Although Maya Angelou did not have a university degree, she was appointed professor of American Studies at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem in 1982.
She has been a visiting professor at several universities.
She also wrote the screenplay and music for the film Georgia, Georgia.
The XM satellite broadcasted their talk show once a week on the Oprah Winfrey Channel. Angelou was also active as a poet.
