How to become confident without being arrogant
A friend of mine who is working on her low self esteem is scared of turning out arrogant. In fact she wants to do anything to become more confident but does not want to end up being boastful and proud. Question now is what is the difference between pride and pride? Hahaha...That was my exact question while I was trying to make her see the distinctions between Confidence and Arrogance.
Difference between Pride and Pride? Sounds Sick right? Let me quickly explain that psychologists have classified Pride into being Authentic and Hubristic. The former involves the type of pride that arises when we feel good about ourselves, when we are productive and confident and it is a normal socially-desirable personality traits such as being pleasurable, diligent, and emotionally stable. Whereas the latter concerns being totally arrogant. It involves egotism, being aggressive, disagreeable and having low self esteem hence being prone to shame.
Won't Your becoming more confident make people see you as Arrogant?
After reading this, trust me you will have no fear working on building your self esteem/Confidence.
Thing is, if you are trying to improve your self-esteem, already you are essentially looking to generate feelings of authentic pride and not hubristic pride. You want to become more confident rather than arrogant.
You are confident does not mean you are proud or arrogant, and being proud/arrogant has nothing to do with confidence even though these two terms appear to be similar in meaning. They are not. Even in our everyday life, the line between the two terms in certain situations can seem rather blurred. For instance, pride can be seen as satisfaction one gains of his/her abilities and or achievements. While on the other hand, confidence is the trust one has about a particular thing or some things.
A significant difference between the two stem from the quality of humility
A proud person is full of pride. He is not humble at all, whereas someone who is confident is humble, down to earth. A confident person takes other's advices into consideration.
A proud person never admits his/her flaws. They never say they're wrong. They do not accept input as such make decisions in a vacuum. They crave public/private recognition for the works they do. However a confident person measures their choices and actions with wisdom. They consider other's inputs and walk towards the truth. Their ambitions are never selfish. They don't try to take all the glory hence they acknowledge the need for teamwork. They work to build others up and above all, they know who they are and who they are not. They are "confident" where God has gifted them. (philippians 2:3-4).

Yea, confident person wouldn't need to always be bragging about his/her achievements. One time satisfaction and then confident people move on to the next task at hand.
You have summed it righfully.. Thanks for finding the time to read through. steem hard

A confident person feels self satisfied in his achievement at this point if the quality humility is not cultivated it will lead him to become boastful. I think a balance need to be strike between the two because an arrogate person fare badly
