I discussed earlier that I would be processing the cassava tubers I harvested into different foods. Last time I processed tapioca but this time is for garri. In this post I shall be discussing the various steps in making garri.

STEPS IN PROCESSING GARRI FROM CASSAVA

STEP 1
The first thing to do is to peel the cassava tubers. Thereafter, it is washed and ready for grinding.

STEP 2
This step involves grinding of the peeled cassava tubers. After grinding, it is put into a bag that is perforated. Then it is tied between sticks to squeeze out the water from it. Then allow overnight to ensure effective dry.

STEP 4
The ground and dried cassava is filtered to remove the chaff and unwanted part. After filtering into fine grains. It is now set for the final stage.

STEP 5
Frying of the fine grain. Here we set fire and with a frying pot we started frying the fine grain into garri. While on fire we turn to mix the gain for even fry. The garri is ready after 10 to 15 minutes.

After frying it is allowed to cool and dry in open place to avoid sticking together.

Garri is eaten with soup. It can be soaked and taken with groundnut. It can also be enjoyed raw by adding red oil. But the best way to enjoy garri is with a delicious soup, afang soup with plenty fish and meat.
