Any money put in the bank is prisoned. It is just for banks to do their own business without considering you. There's risk in business but it's risky not to take risks. Investment is a way of securing the future. Just like planting a seed, and reaping the fruits when due, if you don't invest, don't expect any harvest.

You really don't need millions to start up something. Few SBD can get a business rolling. Don't wait for the government to empower you, don't wait for a miraculous helper to uplift you financially. JOIN THE CRUSADE OF SELF EMPOWERMENT.

I did a comprehensive research and also went around to interview some petty traders on how they started and how much they make daily. I will be sharing low capital intensive business ideas. You can pick the one suitable for you or establish one for someone so you can always have a weekly financial return.

BUSINESS IDEAS:

SOAP MAKING:
Toilet Soap; Liquid Soap (for dish washing); Native Soap; Insecticide, Perfume, Air Refresher.

REQUIREMENTS:
To learn how to produce these products, register with any of the skill acquisition centers.

INITIAL CAPITAL:
The capital to start up your own will not be more than 20 SBD.

MARKETING LOCATION:
You can make arrangement with supermarkets and supply to them in a reduced price. You can also sell in the market. Your church can also be a big market for you.

DAILY INCOME:
Depends on your supply and marketing ability, daily income is not less than 5 SBD.

ICE BLOCK SALES:
Production of ice blocks for commercial use.

REQUIREMENTS:
Deep Freezer, Constant light and cellophane
If you have a freezer, the start up cannot be up with 5 SBD. If you don’t have freezer and cannot afford it during your start up, look for cold room and freeze your water there.

MARKETING LOCATION:
Any place that hawkers can locate you.

DAILY INCOME:
Depends on the location, daily income not less than 4 SBD.

FASHION DESIGNING:
Sewing of corporate and native/traditional wears.

REQUIREMENTS:
6 months of training which would cost 24SBD.
Sewing machine, iron, table, and other tailoring materials. A standard sewing machine costs 37.5 SBD as at 23/05/2018.

LOCATION:
You can start at home and move to a shop when you can afford one.

PROFIT MARGIN:
Depends on your ability and your personal relationship with people. Monthly income not less than 30 SBD.

FISHERY AND POULTRY FARMING:

PROPERTY/BUSINESS AGENT:
Operating as a middle man in business and property negotiations.

REQUIREMENTS:
Registration of the company. 10 SBD for registration and 5 SBD for miscellaneous.
You can attach yourself with a friend that has an office till you save up to rent one.

SALES AND MARKETING:
Buying and selling of popular demand products.
Trading of goods that are not common around the area which the people need for their daily activities.

INITIAL CAPITAL:
20 - 30 SBD

MARKETING LOCATION:
Depends on the type of goods you want to trade
You can start by supplying to people at their homes, offices and even in your church before you can save up for a shop.

BAKING:
Meat Pie, Egg Roll, Sausages, Fish Role:

REQUIREMENTS:
Flour, Baking Powder, Fish, Egg, Meat Oil and Frying pot.

INITIAL CAPITAL:
6 – 10 SBD.

LOCATION
Your Kitchen, front of your house, Market or School.

PROFIT MARGIN:
3 – 5 SBD daily.

ROASTING:
Bole (Plantain), yam and Cocoyam, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bad Basin, Wire, Charcoal, Plantain, yam, cocoyam, and fried groundnut.

INITIAL CAPITAL:
5 – 10 SBD

MARKETING LOCATION:
Road Side, front of your house or store.

DAILY INCOME
Bunch of plantain that costs 1.2 SBD can be sold for 5 SBD after roasting.

MINI RESTAURANT:
Cooking variety of dishes for commercial consumption.

REQUIREMENTS:
Kitchen Utensils, Food Ingredients and Shop.

INITIAL CAPITAL:
50 – 70 SBD

MARKETING LOCATION:
Shop or Home delivery services.

DAILY INCOME:
10 – 15 SBD daily.

TIP: You can consider some seasonal produce like palm oil, yams etc store them during the time of plenty and sale them later and make your profit.

c. Sow seeds when and where necessary ​
d. Treat your workers well
e. Don’t do business with lies and cheating especially when dealing with a fellow Christian.
f. Have the culture of saving no matter how small or how big, don’t eat everything at once.
