I know what you guys are thinking, where I actually live right? Well, right now I live in Ukraine but before that, I lived in Bangladesh and it is my homeland. Bangladesh is a small, beautiful south Asian country with 7 divisions I guess if I am not wrong.

Location :

Buddha Dhatu Jadi temple is known as Bandarban Golden Temple which is located near Bandarban City. Bandarban is a city of Chittagong Division, part of Chittagong Hill Tracts. If we see the map of Bangladesh, this temple is situated in the south-eastern part of Bangladesh.

This is the largest Theravada (Buddism Oldest extant school) Buddhist temple in Bangladesh and the second-largest Buddha statue of the country is into the temple. Bangladesh is a Muslim country and Buddhism is the third religion of Bangladesh.

Basically, this temple belongs to Theravada Buddhism which is practiced by indigenous Marma people. Marma is one of the dominant ethnic community of Bandarban, they are known as ancient Arakanese community people as well.

This temple belongs to Budda... There are other small temples as well in Bandarban but this is the largest one. Only morning time visitors/tourists can visit there, they have a specific time for visitors.

Once a week, all people go there for prayer.

The ethnic population of the town belongs mostly to Marma, an indigenous group of the Chittagong hill region on the eastern end of the country. They are of Arakanese descent and Buddhists by religion and are the second-largest indigenous group in the hill districts of Bangladesh.

This is the entrance of the temple, very decorative. The temple is built on top of the high hill which 60 meters (200 ft) height. The temple is situated in the hill town of Bandarban, among the mountains.

After crossing the entrance, you will be able to see this gorgeous temple sitting in the middle of the area. Very eye-catching golden color temple.

Around the temple, there is circulation space from where you can see not only the entire Bandarban city but also you will see the greatest mountain peak of Bandarban which is known as Tajindong.

Also, you will enjoy the beauty of Bandarban Hill tracts.

At the entrance of the temple, you will see these two large Buddha statues.

There are smaller standing Buddha statues as well, they are located in the exterior elevation of the temple and anyone can go there for prayer as well at any time.

Each statue represents a lesson from Buddha and the biggest Buddha is located inside of the temple. Only once a week they open the interior side for prayers.

There are nameplates in front of every small statue where the description is written.

This is the golden bell of the dragon located on the temple premises/boundaries. This is very beautiful.

I really love the decorative pattern of the walkway. Basically, this entire Buddhist temple architecture is followed by Shwedagon Pagoda which is located in Myanmar. I wonder why they didn't call this temple Pagoda !!!

DSC02039.JPG

If you notice, you will find a lot of similarities between Shwedagon Pagoda and Golden temple of Bandarban. Basically, all donations of this temple come from Myanmar.

Just look at these beautiful shrines of the temple, aren't they amazing. During sunny days, this temple looks gorgeous and reflects it's golden color.

I was able to capture some beautiful pictures of this temple as a memory. Today I was thinking about it and now I am writing this post.

You can see the beautiful mountains and deep lush, dark forest from here. Also, you will see the fluffy clouds as well.

The construction of this temple was started in 1995 and finished it in 2000. It is now a famous tourist spot in Bandarban. But this temple is not quite familiar among foreigners, only Bangladeshi people visit it during winter.

When I was there, the temple complex was under construction and I think now it is completed.

I hope I have provided some basic information about this stunning golden temple. This is one of the iconic Buddhist temples of Bangladesh and worthy to explore.

This temple is also known as Sorno Mondir in Bangla. You will find enough information on google including pictures. Well, here in one of the pictures, you will be able to see me, small me... Let's see if you can find me among all the pictures.
