CLUB 75 / #BURNSTEEM25 || Strawberry Guavas are in season in Mauritius right now...Have you ever tasted this wild fruit friends!?
Goyave de Chine!!! This is the name this fruit has in Mauritius and whenever they are in season, usually we go out with the family to pick them up...
Red and yellow ones...
We actually have 2 varieties and the yellow one are less in quantity than the red which is the most famous variety!
You can find 1 tree of yellow ones among 100 other trees of red ones...just for you to have an idea!
Green and hard when not ready...
Once they are semi ripe, we can start picking them up but they are not as sweet as when they are fully ripened...
Free to pick up on the high lands of Mauritius...
The areas having these Strawberry Guavas are on the higher grounds of the island, near where I live...
The photos in this post are from the last time we went picking up some with my nephews, it was fun as usual! You get to see the guava trees even on the sides on the road and can pick up the ripe ones while driving!
Sweet fruit with a light note of acidic taste...
The taste comes close to cherries/strawberries/raspberries...
Strawberry Guavas have an extremely pleasant taste, very refreshing , sweet when fully ripe, with a slightly sour strawberry-like flavor.
As mentioned above, they can be enjoyed when semi-ripe too...with a pinch of salt and chili!
Have you ever tasted this fruit!?
Now I want to read from you and see if I can learn some more on this fruit from our members.
Are they available in your country? How do you enjoy them best?
So here we are friends, another example of the kind of post we will be looking at in Steemit Iron Chef as from Monday the 12th of September 2022!
Of course I know many of you will make much better quality than this one, and looking forward to have all our members posting good quality and make us discover and learn new things about food and beverages around the world!
For the next few days, I will write different posts on the new format for SIC community that we are looking at.
In a big picture : Make it easy...but make it nice!
And most importantly be YOU and get on free writing!
Best Regards!
