Goodbye 2017- Hello 2018

In about an hour we will be saying goodbye to the year 2017 and welcoming 2018. It seems so surreal that a whole year is gone. We will be starting another year. Another year to do better, to save more, to be healthier and the most common...to lose weight.

We make resolutions and we try to fulfill them. Every year we all try to become better persons than we were before. Some succeed and some don't. It is up to us to change our ways. We can not depend on others. They are there just to help and advice, we make the decisions.

Many are preparing their midnight snacks or media noche. I used to do that too. But this year I am doing something different. My mother is getting older and needs sleep more. Since we don't have fireworks we will just watch those in the sky. We also prepare but this year all the food will be for tomorrow, breakfast and lunch and if there are still leftovers, we will have them for lunch. The sotanghon soup (vermicelli) will be for breakfast along with the garlic bread I bought and some native food like puto (rice cakes), cuchinta and pitse-pitse. I will just show pictures tomorrow. All are sticky and sweet to start the year sweet and close to each other. Also some native tsokolate with ibus (sticky rice cooked in coconut milk and steamed in coconut leaves)

I prepared for a simple lunch with everyone in the house. Some have gone home to their barrios so we are just few tonight. But since they are coming back before lunch we will be together, Our year will start with a good breakfast...all of us left here, then lunch for all of us. I also invited my cousin for lunch because she is alone, her children works abroad.

Some people have nothing yet they are happy and many have a lot yet they are not happy. So if you can share please do. I gave a little something for the tricycle driver I frequently use and to the lay minister who gives my mother her communion every Sunday.

So decide on what you want in your life and what you want to happen. Make goals and try to attain them. I decided that tomorrow I will wake up refreshed and with a happy disposition. I will try not to et angry or frustrated. I just hope I can do it. But for sure I will do the very best I can.

So traditions and beliefs do not make your life. They are things we follow so we can make goals and hope to attain them. For me being a Catholic I will put God as the center of my life. I will pray more often and talk to Him more especially when I feel down or even when I am happy. Other religions have their own ways and means and their own God. So they can do what their religion tells them.

So by the time I post this it will be 2018!
