My favorite place
​My favorite place is our roof. The brick and stone city below, the honking of cars and horses, the running of people—this roof seems far away from all this.

​When I come here during the day, my heart is filled with joy. When I look around, I see only houses and houses as far as the eye can see. One is like a layer on top of another. Occasionally, some tall buildings stand tall. When I see the sky from here, it seems like a huge blue canvas, with white clouds like cotton moving around on it. I love watching clouds, they make different shapes at different times.
​In the morning light or in the strong afternoon sun, the roof is quite dazzling. I see many people around me planting trees on their roofs, making small gardens. There are also some plants in pots on our roof.

My mother takes care of them, and I also water them occasionally. The touch of greenery gives me peace of mind. On some roofs, I see water tanks installed, some black, some blue. It sparkles when the sun sets.
​I spend a lot of time here in the afternoon or evening. When the sun slowly starts to set, the colors around me change. The sky turns orange, red, and light purple—it's an extraordinary sight! Then it feels like this time is just mine. I stand here and take a deep breath.

​Sometimes I stand on the roof at night. When all the lights go out, the sky is full of stars. Of course, there is so much light in the city that I can't see many stars. But I also like looking at those lights that are burning in the distance.
​The roof is not just a concrete place for me, it is a place to relax, where I can stand alone quietly and talk to myself. Forget the noise outside and find some peace. When I am sad or very happy, the first thing I think of is this roof. This roof is my dear friend, my own world.
