Research High School Students on the Dangers of WiFi Create Awe of Scientists

Five high school students conducted experiments for their Biology class and asked the same question. What is the impact of wi-fi on our health? And their research is admired by researchers in England, the Netherlands and Sweden.

"We all often have trouble concentrating in school, sleeping with mobile phones next to us.We want to know more," explained Lea Nielsen, one of the students involved in the experiment.

The teenagers decided to experiment to see if wi-fi was the cause of it all. They then took 400 cress seeds (Lepidium sativum) and separated them among 12 different containers.

All containers are stored in the same room, at the same temperature, with the same amount of water. Six of the containers are placed next to a wi-fi router that emits the same type of radiation as the phone. After 12 days, the results are very surprising.

Cress seeds are stored away from the wi-fi router, growing healthy and fertile. While the seeds are next to the router? The seeds are mostly dead or mutated. They do not grow at all.

"It's really frightening how big the impact is, we're very surprised at the results," Lea said.

Their experiments concluded that wi-fi radiation can expose your body to elements that greatly affect your health. The teenagers also argued that someone should sleep with a remote phone or placed in another room and the computer must be turned off in order to get a quality rest.

Olle Johansson, a prominent professor at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, said he and his team would repeat the experiment to learn more. But he praised the girls' brilliant experiments.

"They remain within the scope of their knowledge, skillfully applying and developing highly elegant experiments," concluded Olle.
