How to make honey !
Shot with Nikon D700 + 60mm macro or 24/70 mm.
Hello steemians ! Today I worked on some pictures of my honey harvest.
I have some beehives in the south of France and took some pictures to show you :)
First you can see a bee at work. She forages the flowers to collect nectar and pollen.
The two orange clusters on her legs are the pollen she picked up.
Then she returns to the hive where her harvest will be stored and transformed into honey.
After that, we come once a year to pick up the honey. (We leave a large part to them for food during the winter). We remove the top floor and we smoke. The bees are separated from the queen and come out to join her in the hive. The smoke is used to believe in a threat to the bees so they collect honey to save it and are less aggressive.
After that, we go to the honey house for the extraction. You have to remove the wax plug from the lids with a large knife.
Then we put the uncapped frames in an extractor and let it spin really fast !
I said very fast !
Thank you.
You can see the honey dripping down the wall of the extractor.
And voilà !
Then the honey will be filtered to remove the wax residue and potted 15 days later.
That's how you work when you don't have a lot of hives. There are many other ways to do it when you do this industrially !
Bonus : A bee doing a booty shake !
Yeah baby !
Have a nice day everyone !

Hi Quentin, seeing this post the feeling of summer and of warm day spread around. Lovely pictures of little bees. You managed to capture so well focused. When I was little I love to eat the honey with such raw honeycomb, that was so delicious but I remember it was also quite expensive.
I noticed that you are heading toward a Dolphin when you reach 5000 Steem Power, do a post about it and use #clubdolphin as a second tag, so that you are seen by Steemcurator01, they support users who reached Dolphin and higher levels :)
Thank you @stef1 :) I do a sorting job on my photos and I take the opportunity to release exclusive things for here :) It brings a little sunshine and not only snow !
Yes the raw honeycomb are expensive because it's boring to make special lids with support for that :
Better to ask directly when people harvest ^^
Ok for the dolphin post, I didn't know, thank you I'll do that this week when I reach 5000 ^^
