Barringtonia racemosa is also known as powder-puff tree, common Putat, Fish-Killer Tree, Fish-Poison Tree, Freshwater Mangrove, Putat Ayam, Putat Kampong, Small-Leaved Barringtonia.

It has attractive red and white flowers on long, hanging flowering shoots. The flowers are night-blooming, fragrant and have filamentous stamens. They have reddish fruits that resemble figs. It can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, making it suitable for most sites, in the tropics. You see them in parks, gardens and along the roadsides.
