'The All-Seeing Eye' by Fee Gunn at my little art gallery

Today I want to highlight this stunning piece in our current show, 'We Are Thankful For His Table Scraps' by Fee Gunn. This one is called All-Seeing Eye, featuring at least 72 iPhone image sensors, many lens parts, and among still more, a weather dial.

As Fee tells it, this was originally planned to be something entirely different, but as he was putting it together, it took on a life of its own.

Aside from the artist's personal stories about the making of this piece, and the history of the parts themselves, the All Seeing Eye tells its own story, a story of Odin from Norse Mythology.

Sacrificing one eye in exchange for the ability to see all things, none can escape the focus of Odin's lens. Pairing well with this piece, is a new piece, shown for the first time in our gallery here, called Left Wing.

Though Left Wing(made almost entirely with Sim Card ejector pins) has its own stories, paired with the All-Seeing Eye, it might symbolize the wing of Hugin or Munin, Odin's Ravens who sweep the world with their great wings and return with news each day.

As an aside, I also wanted to share something I found interesting about the All-Seeing Eye piece. This piece was in Fee's show last year, but placed differently. Last year, it was well received enough, but often overlooked. This year, it's one of the top favourites! How interesting a bit of time and different staging can effect artwork! That's something for the rest of us to keep in mind when redecorating our own homes. The art you have can shine very differently depending on how you contextualize it in your space.

For anyone in Toronto, you can come see this show in person between now and the 16th. Drop me a line to book an appointment. My little gallery is on the concourse level of 222 Spadina Avenue. We're doing a closing/birthday party for the artist on the 16th. Rumour has it the Brides of March pub crawl is going to wander through here, so if you want a little bit more excitement, that might be your day.

As always, more than happy to accept tips to share with the current artist, if you don't have room in your life for new artwork but want to support us.

It is interesting to see the works of artists and their expression, the eye looks futuristic I bet it was very popular too.
