Assalamu Alaikum,

how are you all? By the grace of Allah Ta'ala you are all well. I am also good by the grace of God. Today I am waiting for the hope of getting the fruits of my day and night work of my middle farmer father.

My father is a farmer. He is working hard day and night on his cultivable land. His total land is 2 acres. His family lives on 2 acres of land. The total number of members of his family is 6.

My farmer father farms potatoes on his own land. The total area under his potato cultivation is 30 percent. When you pick these potatoes, keep some of them at home for year-round consumption and sell some of them to support your family with the money you earn. But that is still the result of waiting a few more days.

Autumn in the Kartik-Agrahayan season. Therefore, the necessary work for the winter crop has to start at the beginning of the month of Kartik. This month is the best time to cultivate potatoes.

Land preparation and sowing of seeds:

Kartik month is suitable time for preparation of land and sowing of seeds for potatoes. Light soils i.e. sandy loam soils are quite suitable for potato cultivation.

Fertilizer application in potato cultivation:

Potato cultivation requires 112 kg of urea per acre, 75 kg of TSP, 112 kg of MOP, 40 kg of gypsum, 5 kg of zinc sulphate and 4 kg of boron fertilizer. Half urea, half MOP and whole TSP are mixed together and the seeds are sown in the manure next to the potato seed. The rest of the fertilizer has to be applied topically within 35 to 40 days of planting.
