in Steem Entrepreneurslast month

Hello everyone,
It's your favorite Steemian @rakiya from Nigeria and I'm delighted to join in this contest organized by @hamzayousafzai in this noble community today. It's a wonderful contest and I love to share my participation in it.

Education here in my dear country Nigeria is diminishing by the day and this tallies with the topic that says from satisfaction to reform. Indeed Nigeria schools or education needs reform because what we hear and read from history is different from what we are seeing today.

Describe your country's education system including its structure curriculum teaching methods and key stakeholders.

The system of education here in my country is a formal one. Education starts in nursery school, primary school, secondary school, and then the university.

In Nigeria, every child is expected to spend at least 3 years in nursery school, 6 years in primary school, 6 years in secondary school, and a minimum of 4 years in the university depending on your course of studies.

The higher institutions in Nigeria are graded and so also their certification because not everyone goes to the university immediately after their secondary education.

So we have the colleges of education where ideally teachers are being trained and are offered the NCE certificate and then we have the Polytechnic which is also a higher institution but they offer the HND certificate and lastly the university which offers the BSC certificate.

So these 3 higher institutions mentioned above are mentioned in hierarchy i.e college of education is the least, polytechnic follows and then University is the leader of them all.

Depending on which institution you attend, there are different teaching methods such as demonstration methods, practical methods, and many more. Teachers adapt the teaching method based on the message they are trying to pass and based on the methods that the students understand the most.

The majority of the institutions here in Nigeria are owned by the government and private individuals so the major stakeholders are government and private individuals.

Are you satisfied with your country's education system? Share your reasons why or why not.

The country's education standard is falling every day and this is a major issue for us all. As a student in the College of Education at the moment, I'm not satisfied with the level of education here in my school.

The system may be good but the standard has reduced drastically. What this means is that the process is still okay if you ask me but the people within the system are not making efforts to deliver as it was in those days and that is why I say the school needs reformation.

What reforms would you introduce to improve education in your country? Be innovative and practical in your suggestions.

If I have the opportunity to reform education in my country, the first thing to do is to ensure that every teacher or lecturer gets his or her job based on merit and not because you have someone or a political figure at the top.

So to do this, an aptitude test will be carried out and the document will be carefully scrutinized to be sure we pick the best teachers we need for the country.

Also, any school that doesn't have the necessary equipment such as an equipped library, an equipped laboratory, and other social amenities such as a game spot and many others will be shut down completely.

For private sectors, you have to provide evidence of all the above mentioned before you will be allowed to run your school in the country. With that in place, you will agree with me that the education system in Nigeria will become better than it is at the moment.

I want to finally invite @ruthjoe, @mesola, and @lhorgic to join the contest.
