Let's Celebrate Raksha Bandhan....

Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi is a Hindu festival celebrated in India. It is combination of two words Raksha which means Protection and Bandhan which means Bond. So Raksha Bandhan means "Bond of Protection".

It falls on the full moon day of the Hindu luni-solar calendar month of Shravana, or in Gregorian calendar month of August. This festival celebrates love and bond between brothers and sisters. It does not matter if they are biologically related or not. A sister ties a rakhi (sacred thread) on her brother's wrist and pray for his prosperity and happiness. This symbolizes the sister's love. In return, the brother gives her a gift and a promise to protect her.

The festival is also celebrated by some Jains and Sikhs as well. In sikhism it is known as "Rakhari" and is celebrated in the same way. In Jainism, Jain priests give threads to devotees.

Brothers and Sisters Love is unconditional. Let's celebrate the festival with happiness.
