Achievement 3 by @rawul : Content Etiquette
Hello how are you doing?I feel happy today and I am very happy to be presenting my achievement 3 that has to do with plagiarism, its definition its types and how to avoid it.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. In educational contexts, there are differing definitions of plagiarism depending on the institution. Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics.source
Certainly those of us who are in studios, in content platforms such as Steemit and in the world of music as is my case sometimes need to take ideas, lyrics, rhythms, images and a lot of support material from other authors for the publication of our posts, for the singing of songs, to graphically design some art, etc. Our original creations will always be ours, they will be our brain tests, until someone else takes these creations and publishes them as their own, this being a criminal and dishonest act that affects the original creator of the work in question who will feel robbed, victim of abuse. It is necessary to clarify that if it is possible to use external sources to elaborate our creations, as long as we do not publish them as our own and taking into consideration certain steps that must be applied to highlight the original source from where we get the ideas that we incorporate in our publications, in this way the credit will be given to the original creator and we will avoid being branded as plagiarists.
Types of plagiarism
Direct Plagiarism
Direct plagiarism is the word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else’s work, without attribution and without quotation marks. The deliberate plagiarism of someone else's work is unethical, academically dishonest, and grounds for disciplinary actions, including expulsion source
Self Plagiarism
Self-plagiarism occurs when a student submits his or her own previous work, or mixes parts of previous works, without permission from all professors involved. For example, it would be unacceptable to incorporate part of a term paper you wrote in high school into a paper assigned in a college course. Self-plagiarism also applies to submitting the same piece of work for assignments in different classes without previous permission from both professors. source
Mosaic Plagiarism
Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when a student borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks, or finds synonyms for the author’s language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original. Sometimes called “patch writing,” this kind of paraphrasing, whether intentional or not, is academically dishonest and punishable – even if you footnote your source! source
Accidental Plagiarism
Accidental plagiarism occurs when a person neglects to cite their sources, or misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, groups of words, and/or sentence structure without attribution. source
How to avoid plagiarism
To avoid falling into the dishonest practice of plagiarism we have the act of "citing authors" and in our publications in Steemit we must place the symbol greater than > and then paste the textual quote and the name of the person who said the cited, in this way it will appear in this way
Plagiarism is necessary. It is implicit in progress.

In the same way every time we publish something foreign to us we must place in square brackets and in capital letters the word source followed by the link address used in parentheses so that the person reading our publication has access to the information of the original source and at the same time avoid falling into plagiarism.
Having understood the importance of publishing original works and highlighting the sources we use when it is necessary to incorporate material from outside us in our publications I hope to have exposed before you my humble analysis on this subject so important for the perpetuation of creative originality over time. With nothing more to add I say goodbye for now.
