The first gathering of the Colorado Front Range Steemit Meetup was a success!

It was great meeting everyone that attended the meetup. As a brand new Steemian, and someone new to cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in general, I’ve been super excited about everything I’ve learned so far. I love the social aspect of Steem and I wanted to connect with local people to share my enthusiasm.

A Meetup.com group seemed like the best option to surrounding myself with like minded people.

Being a beer nerd, I wanted to do the first meetup in a nearby brewery. I was a bit worried in the week leading up to the meetup as I was the only member of the meetup group that had signed up to attend. I’d planned on just showing up anyway, and drowning my sorrows in a beer if no one else came to the Meetup. Nighthawk Brewery was a location for our first meetup, but I will be looking for a quieter location for our next gathering that's much more conducive to conversation.

I’d talked to @lpfaust on Steemit chat and he mentioned that he and @intuitivejakob would be coming, plus two others potentially.

I put on my brand new ‘Will Work for STEEM POWER’ t-shirt and headed out to Nighthawk Brewery.

I was glad I had this on as some people members only found us by seeing my t-shirt!

I’d been forced to drive by Nighthawk Brewery each night in the month prior to the Meetup. The Brewery can be seen from HWY 36, but can’t really be reached from it. I’d never been to the brewery, but they had beer, pinball, and pizza, so for a small informal meetup, it met my requirements and my friends said it was a nice place.

As I walked in, I spotted @lpfaust at the bar. I ordered a beer and we grabbed the last open table in a side-nook of the bar area. We pulled up some extra chairs as more people arrived. We ended up having EIGHT people show up to the meetup! Much better than just me! The bar was pretty noisy and we spent most of the time at the meetup going around the table doing introductions.

There was trivia going on in the larger room at the brewery which probably contributed to the high noise level as well. I would go back to Nighthawk again. I liked the beers i tried and I hear that there is free pinball on Tuesday nights.
(I personally had the Wet Hop IPA and the Grapefruit IPA and both were quite delicious!)

After our introductions we had time remaining to do a quick raffle where @jimitations took home a Steemit coffee mug.

• A bit more quiet (We could barely hear everyone at the table at the brewery!)
• Have room for 20-30 people
• Central location to attending members
• Non-conflicting date and time than other crypto meetups.
