DinsFire v0.1 - Beginning the first decentralized intelligence network (DIN)
I recently began development of a front-end application for Project Din's Fire, the first DIN based on Steemit. Soon to be released on https://dinsfire.org, the objective is to create the first open-source, publicly accessible intelligence gathering, analysis and reporting application based on the Steemit platform and Graphene blockchain.
While still in very early development, I thought I'd share some of the collective ideas on how the DinsFire platform will operate so far. Perhaps this will give some folks at least an idea of what we hope to achieve, which will hopefully surpass the similar efforts of organizations like WikiLeaks, Wikipedia and the general mainstream media machine.
Users of the DIN, either agents or directors, will be encouraged to collect, analyze and report on any number of subjects which are of importance to its userbase. These general subjects, known as directives, will group users into specializations ranging from cryptocurrency markets intelligence to missing persons and whatever the DIN's directors find pertinent enough to petition.
Directors themselves are agents (entry-level users) who have accomplished intelligence activities (such as written reports and data collection) and have been nominated by other directors on the network. Directors can also create missions which are a set of tasks or goals under a particular directive meant to be accomplished through intelligence activities. Directors will then be able to flag "raw" intelligence (Steemit posts, external blogs, news, etc.) for its relevance to a particular mission or directive as well as assign a level for the "quality" or integrity of the intelligence itself.
A future goal of Din's Fire will be to incorporate other sources for raw intelligence than simply Steemit, however, and will leverage the Steemit platform as a means to publish reports and analysis as well as a central source for user accounts and interaction. ChainBB may also be included in this process, but it will be but one part of the overall DIN. Ideally there will be some portal for sensitive sources (ie. whistleblowers) to securely and anonymously post critical information to DIN members.
Agents and directors alike can earn "accolades" for accomplishing missions or otherwise furthering directives in meaningful ways. These accolades, much like achievements or badges, will draw attention to particularly productive and creative users and allow agents to become directors themselves.
All in all this will be an attempt to use Steemit as an engaging platform for public intelligence gathering and sharing, and might very well redefine the word "intelligence" itself for the better and more accurate.
Productivity, not apathy.
Cooperation, not separation.
Truth, not perception.
I am just wondering how steemit members will be able to notify DinsFire of intelligence that needs to be analysed? How will you know that you need intelligence about a certain thing?
Another way to put this is "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." So how will people report something before a cure is needed?
There will be a number of ways to collect and parse "raw" intelligence, including customizable Steemit feeds (as in my previous app, Esteem.Life) and the use of the Steemit tagging system. This particular feature however will be much more developed in the further future to include other blog sites, news sources, etc.
Ultimately it will be up to DIN users themselves to dictate the relevance these raw bits of information have to their particular objectives. Sort of like a more advanced version of Steemit's curation directors could note particular posts (including ones written by themselves) as relevant to a directive and/or mission. It is also important to have users quantify how much integrity or validity the given source has as a means of discovering reliable sources for future intel gathering.
I am sorry I don't think I was clear. I wanted to know how the steemian who does not want to be a investigator or a director would be able to inform DinFire of potential intelligence.?
Ah, the hope is to have a basic interface for guest users as well! Essentially they could actually as agents themselves but without the ability to post to Steemit until they register.
I was thinking you could have a pond like http://steemitpond.com/ Only they would be ponds for anonymously reporting things that you see in the feeds. You can have avatars that require no identity and do not record identifying information. The point is that a lot of intel gets left out because people don't want to be identified.
Just an Idea.
And an excellent one! Thank you kindly!
We steemians have to stick together. Hope I have provided and valuable idea. Good luck putting it all together.
Interesting concept, I always believed this approach to Intel was inevitable. Open source intelligence already plays an important role in the current IC structure.
I believe some Intel communities actually have controlled and dedicated applications (similar to wiki and socials) for collaborating on intel.
I am very curious to see how this would function once implemented.
One thing I think is important to consider in the early stages of developing a system like this is taking efforts to stress good intelligence practices.
Integrating a rating system may be beneficial. Ratings on importance, relevance and accuracy.
I fully agree on quantifying quality and relevance. Those are critical metrics I think will really make the entire process so much more efficient overall.
Does this also serve to protect steem users personal data and the security of steemit platform.
Very cool project. Open source intelligence is the future.
Wow, very cool! It will be interesting to run some analytics on trends and upvotability. If that's a word now? lol
One of the key goals is to be expandable so even if it doesn't exist yet you could always make a mission and eventually vote to make a directive for all kinds of research topics.
Decentralize Deceeeeentralize, is the only way we could be free, I will follow you If all the things were that way the world be other. THE BEST OF ALL AND DO NOT GIVE UP, I am shure you know we all need that
Thanks for the encouragement! It should be a good time.
I will keep an eye on you Keep on, thanks to you
Hell Yeah @rebelskum!! This is EXACTLY what's needed for researchers and investigators. I will support this project 100% and be following closely.
You're a Legend!
Right back at ya! Looking forward to taking on real problems w/ some real badasses like yourself and some good times had by all.
Wow you've been a busy human.
I fucking love this plan.
If you need any help with anything give me a shout I'm in the usual Steemit discords.
Good stuff my friend.
Thanks as always and I definitely am keeping you in mind. I think this is really going to be the big one for us types.
totes over my head but you never cease to astound me H -UGE Brains h-UUUUUUGE
@Rebelskum please let me know what is needed in the collection and analysis end of things. I believe you just made a best friend here.
