Art and Creativity: You Start with a Photo... and Then...
Things are not always what they seem.
At the Red Dragonfly, we're often working with artists who are pushing new frontiers in art and creativity. Digital art is one of those new frontiers.
At the home, we have work from two digital artists in the gallery. They have different approaches:
One makes quick pencil sketches of an image she has in mind; scans the sketch into her photo manipulation software and then spends hours adding vivid color and detail.
Another is both a painter and photographer, and she will combine elements of photos and paintings with digital "brushes" to create finished works that often represent actual dreams she has had.
The above image — which sort of looks like a cross between a painting and a digital image is actually a heavily manipulated photograph of architectural detail one of Port Townsend's Victorian era buildings in the late afternoon sun.
We created this as part of an experiment today, with an eye towards occasionally using the Steepshot platform to send posts to Steemit.
