ACHIEVEMENT 3: CONTENT ETIQUETTE

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago (edited)

Good day steemians, I am here again to write and complete my achievement 3 in which I want to write about Content Etiquette and Plagiarism.

What is Content Etiquette?

Content writing etiquette requires following several rules in establishing a strong online presence. The content created helps to communicate in an accurate, useful and engaging manner.
It also allows showcasing one's expertise in one's field and to do this, one must first master the basic keys which includes; grammar, syntax, tone and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Below are some of the rules:

Rules of Do's
1. Prioritize value addition for reader.
2. Make editing and proofreading a habit.
3. Pick a Niche best suited for you.
4. Learn and master SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Rules of Dont's
1. Don't plagiarize content.
2. Don't use complicated vocabulary.
3 Don't write wordy or repetitive content.
4. Don't overdo SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Now I move to Plagiarism...

What is Plagiarism

In my own definition, plagiarism is the act of copying of another person's ideas, text or creative work and presenting it as one's own especially without permission. This is mostly common in today's world as people view it as the easiest way to pass but in steemit it is not allowed, it is either you edit or you are muted because plagiarism is fraud and does not show honesty.

Types of Plagiarism

Complete Plagiarism: This occur when a writer submits someone else's work in their own name. i.e paying somebody to write for you then handing it in with your name.
Paraphrasing Plagiarism: This is what happens when a writer reuses another person's work and changes a few words or phrases.
Patchwork Plagiarism: This type of plagiarism involves copying works from different places and pasting them together to create one's own post.
Accidental Plagiarism: This can be the act of copying a person's work and forgetting to put the source of the work. This can happen during citations. For example,

"Spread love everywhere you go, let no one ever come to you without leaving happier" - Mother Teresa

Tips on how to avoid plagiarism:

  • Try to work in your own words and understanding.
  • Always cite words with sources while creating a post.
  • Gives credit to an original author where necessary.
  • Always check plagiarism before posting.

In conclusion, I have read and understand that plagiarism is not something to have a record with, it is fraud and doesn't show honesty and I promise to produce only plagiarism free contents in steemit.
