Call It What You Want; This Is Racism
Now forgive me for giving my feedback in reaction to these shameful modern issues that humans still face on in this earthly realm. I deal with the false theories on race, the legal aspects of race and nationality, and the social contruct of what is race on a daily basis (and as a Moorish-American Muslim living in the states that has the genetics from four continents that looks like an off-white-ish foreigner in America, I have a big opinion that doesn't come from an asshole) ... I stumbled across this in the news today...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5267825/MEP-calls-UKIP-boss-quit-lovers-racist-texts.html
... now I know the dailymail is not the best source for knowldge and news. I have been seeing so much about the British Royal Family and their marriages for so long that it is normal to always see the world nitpik at who is marrying who and where and why. However, now that Prince Harry is marrying a black American woman who identifies as biracial and has already been divorced, the comments and feedback is from ALL directions and going more left field :(
Now, I will pick apart the main picture of this post that is supposedly the private texts between a British woman in-good with UKip and her friend who may or may not have exposed her racist thinking.
"I wouldn't with a negro"
- everybody is entitled to their own sexual attractions, but saying that you would not sex or marry somebody using an outdated word that does not accurately describe the one being described is racist AND a false judgement.
"What's wrong with black people?"
- even more sad (somewhat funny) that the friend responds to negro with this Xp
"Ugly"
- obviously Prince Harry doesn't feel the same lol
"Not my thing"
- your 'thing' is of no concern, this is Prince Harry's marriage not yours (your 'thing' is old politician white english men who are closet racists themselves!)
"They don't turn me on"
- What the hell does her coochie tingle have to do with the Prince's marriage lol
"Harry's marrying. God!"
- don't get this one I guess the racist lady is expressing disgust here, but her expression is ever more disgusting :(
"Wet as a scrubber. Awful"
- wet in America is actually a compliment usually meaning clean or new... when refering to sex or women a wet vagina is even sought and desired because a wet one is a good feeling one :) Guess in white English Britain wet is awful :(
"A royal yank. yuck"
- What is a yank? More importantly what makes Meghan Markle a yank and how can I not be a yank. Is yankee and yank.
"She's black."
- black is a legal classification in America based on social constructs... I see more conflict with her being an American marrying into British royalty more than I see skin color and social construct shame.
"A dumb little 'actress' that no one has heard of"
- seems like... seems like with so many talking about her that many have heard of her now.
"This is Britain, not Africa"
- Meghan Markle is aa English speaking black American woman that identifies as being bi-racial... she is not African from Africa with a nationality and a language but a black American actress that has had much success thus far.
"lol so what'
- is that how you respond to being called racist ?
"...invade your own culture..."
- how is Meghan Markle being asked by Prince Harry for her to marry him an invasion of your culture? Better bring it up with grandma and talk to Prince next holiday. Racists often may justify their ignorant thinking with statements such as 'they are invading US' ... not realizing that had Prince Harry felt the same way as her, noneo f this would be happening :)
"just don't like her"
- if I don't like somebody... I have a damn good reason and I well 100% be able to articulate that without attributing it to skin complexion and race.
"Pushing their way to the top slowly slowly. Next will be a Muslim Pm. And a black king"
- inshallah lol
Racism has no place in this world
Humans will always discriminate. It's sad how we do that using color, language, religion, tribe, anything! Well, it's the world we live in. We can make it better as individuals in our own personal lives.
Thanks for sharing, Rene! I love the way you analysed every statement without an ounce of hate. And I am an African :)
Words can hurt much more than an apology can heal sometimes..
I hope that racist people will understand that their words can hurt, can hurt to the point where the apology will have no effect because it does not negate the original problem of racism in the first place.
Inshallah we can analyze like this to tackle the root and not the symptoms. Your feedback is appreciated and valued my friend.
Black is the planet official color lol
