Travel 1.1: Trip to Kalanggaman Island, Philippines' Longest Sandbar ever...

in #travel8 years ago (edited)

Hi guyths. Fellow @steemits @steemians travelers, island hoppers, trail seekers, adventure addicts and nature lovers. This is the best place for you. I tell you. Of all the places I have visited, this one is incomparably different to other places of interest.

This is an island found within the island. An extraordinary gift of nature to itself. A paradise of a paradise. This is Kalanggaman Island dubbed as the longest sand bar in the Philippines.

This slice of paradise, is actually just located in the nearby province and with in the region where I used to live. This, geographically located in the province of Leyte specifically in the town of Palompon in Region 8.

This is may be my great mistake for I under estimated my own region. Instead of promoting it, I better prepared and prioritized to travel to other islands in the Philippines than my own.

After a deep realization, I came into courage to visit this place alone. Since, I always go backpacking I prepared to plan and visit this island during weekend when I have no academic appointments and class. So this is it. So excited, to see this hidden gem.

From my place, I ride a UV express going to Tacloban City, the city capital of Leyte. It took 6hours to reach the city. Then ride again for another 3hours bound to the town of Palompon.

So here is what Palompon is.

Upon my arrival in the little town of Palompon, since the driver dropped me off to the front of the tourism office. I immediately went there. Pay the fees and signed the visitors log book. After the transactions, I roved around along the public market to buy some foods to bring in the island..

This is inside of the Palompon Tourism Office..

So, here we are with my new friends I have met along the way to the island. We went to the public market. We bought foods for our lunch. So, me and my companion decided to buy Letchun (a filipino dish which is being recognized as a national dish).

Aside from our food for lunch, we bought fruits for our dessert and some finger foods and breads for snacks.

So lucky, I was able to share my expenses with these two awesome audit masters. Hehehe.

By the way, this is the Palompon's Public Market..

Since the boat rental going to the island is a little bit expensive, we have waited for morethan an hour to other visitors to share the boat fees. Until we decided to take a ride going to the island just the three of us. We just have divided the standard rental fee of P3,000.00 (so P1,000.00 each).

So here we go. Just took a photo inside the boat. The maximum passenger is supposedly good for 30 persons. But it seems we're just only three and the crews. So we have a big space as if we can sleep all over the boat. Hahaha.

After more than an hour of voyaging. The long wait is over. Here we come the stunning island of Kalanggaman with the Philippines longest sandbar.

Before we arrived. Took a photo of the overview of the island.. I was so speechless the moment I saw the island and its amazing sandbar. The only word I said is a "big wowwwwww".

This is the amazing Kalanggaman Island featuring the longest sandbar ever. The island is made of white sand where it has different classes of white sand. In some part of the island especially along the shore where the boat arrived and welcomes the tourists is a powdery white sand. Along the cottages has also a kind of sand where it is mere roughly sugary white sand. Where you cant directly walk barefoot because of some sharp corals. And lastly, the sand going to the sandbar has also different type. It is a kind of sugary white sand with a combination of powdery corals that makes the sand colored pink. Also this sand is made of rough type of corals which you cannot barefoot while walking.
