Winning strategies on Steemit

I am very interested in your Steemit experience and in what you do to get ahead here. As a result, I have two questions I want to ask in the hope that you will share your wisdom with me and whoever else is reading here. Things are so new in this space it can be very confusing at times. And then they keep on changing. Whatever you think you know today may be very different tomorrow.

Part of me thinks I should reap great benefits at some stage because I am so early in this space and somewhere down the line others will envy me. Another part looks at the astounding progress some have made and at the heights, the real early adopters have reached and feel somewhat jealous and somewhat left behind.

I want to share with you three things I do. You may want to consider them. Or not. You may have better ideas and I would love to hear them. But first, three of the things I do.

1. Follow and read @taskmaster4450

Every time I'm down about the low price of Steem and wonder whether I am wasting my time, I read @taskmaster4450's blog. This guy is a futurist, something I am decidedly not. And he has the highest expectations of not just the future of the blockchain but specifically of Steem. To this novice, he seems to know what he is talking about and after reading some negative opinions, I am always hopeful again after reading his blog. You should take a look.

2. Upvotes for life

After starting on Steemit, it did not take long before I gave up on some benevolent whale discovering my blog to be blown away by my writing skills and unparalleled wisdom. I seem to have found a shallow part of the ocean and there are no whales swimming around. Those who have reported a sighting seem to think that whales only have eyes for other whales. And since a big payout on one post will not change my life, I have found something that makes a whole lot more sense. Services that will guarantee you an upvote for life!

@steembasicincome, @steemitbuilder and @minnowbuilder all provide a service that will guarantee you at least one upvote per day for a lifetime. The strength of the upvote depends on you and what you pay when you sign up and each service has the own rules and methodology. However, once you have signed up, their upvote will be there every day!

As an added benefit, each of the mentioned services also enables you to help other minnows in one way or another. I do not have many people who have me on autovote, but even if you do, it is not a permanent arrangement. People move on and priorities change. I encourage you to investigate this. Between @steembasicincome, @steemitbuilder, @minnowbuilder, @minnowbuilder2 and @minnowbuilder3, I now have five upvotes guaranteed every time I post!

3. Rewards for comments

I have not been great at responding to comments on my blog posts. In the early days, I fell victim to bots and spam. As a result, I started to avoid the comments. I am in the process of correcting this. One of my favourite authors on Steemit is @fitinfun. She has an amazing ability to have long conversations with just about anyone. Her blog is a hive of activity. Recently, she set an example by offering @steembasicincome shares for the top two comments on some of her posts. I am following that example here and if you comment on this post you may win a share.

Questions to answer in the comments

I want to ask two question for you to answer in the comments. The idea is that we help one another and the two best comments will each receive a share of @steembasicincome. This will either be the comments that evoke the strongest response from myself or from other people commenting on the comment. Comments that cause me to shake my head and sigh or cry out in exasperation will not be winners. However, every comment will receive a response and at least a 50% upvote from me. Answers need not be essays. Here are the questions.

1. Are you hopeful regarding the future of Steem? Why?

2. What strategy/service do you follow for success on Steemit?

I look forward to learning from you!

Steem is still growing, I still enjoy being here, doing what we do, communicating. Sad that whales do not go around supporting, within time smaller fish learn to support effectively rather than just looking at earnings.

Strategy changes all the time with newly evolving platforms, very necessary to take a look at some of the platforms suggested, this can also become time consuming unfortunately.

Visiting from #steemitbloggers

You are so right @joanstewart. Your strategy needs to change all the time. And it can be time-consuming but we are nowhere near our destination. You have been a great example to follow.

  1. Are you hopeful regarding the future of Steem?

I go back and forth on this. I HOPE steem will succeed long term and invest in things like qurator, leasing delegated sp, and sbi for that reason. I see so many good people trying hard and posting interesting things and that gives me a lot of optimism.

But looking at the top end here is very discouraging. So I do not often look. But when you do look at the top 1% or so, you see people who are very happy to keep voting for each other and fighting, fighting, fighting.

Why?
I am hopeful because I have most of my eggs in this one basket and really need it to succeed. I am not hopeful because I am not sure that the big guys care if it does or not.

  1. What strategy/service do you follow for success on Steemit?
As you say in your shout out for me (thank you very much!) I try my best to engage here. I autovote 20 accounts on steemdunk, comment all day long, follow everyone who looks good, encourage comments on my posts and upvote them as best I can.

I recently got into discord and have been joining all channels I see. This has turned out to be a wealth of opportunities, contests and upvotes. I have found a lot of new ideas there in the last couple of months.

I also post 2-4 times a day - every day - and that seems to help in many ways. I post with esteem, busy, ulogs and there are a couple others I need to look into. I get votes from just using those apps to post with.

I knew you would rule discord, even before you finally took the plunge. Your tireless engagement on Steemit inspires me @fitinfun!

I think the success of steem depends on the community. There are some really great people on here and I think it's going to take them overpowering the bots and spammers for the platform to reach its true potential. Definitely hopeful. I think the value of the community and the potential of SMTs is a stronger force than people's greed and ability to spam.

My main thing right now is delegating SP through minnowbooster and keeping fit with actifit. I haven't had a lot of time to post or do much curating/posting, so it's nice to delegate my SP through minnowbooster to get a return and help others have more voting power at the same time. Actifit is a nice way to do a daily post and keep engaged without taking too much time to post.

I am very interested in Actifit @reidlist. Thank you for mentioning it here.

This was good stuff! Very helpful and I agree with @taskmaster4450 always being optimistic. I wasn't aware of those upvoting services but I do know about @qurator and you can add that to the list as well.

Thanks for sharing!

Yes! @qurator is a great service. Every committed blogger should carry their banner as it really signifies quality. And the daily upvote is great. You are right @mikeycolon. I should have listed it in the post.

I wonder how others can easily come up with a topic that encourages engagement or answers like this one... You have bubbling ideas in your head. 😊

In spite of the HF20 fiasco, I am still here so yes, I am hopeful for the future of Steem. Why? I guess I have to ask, why not? Many people are beyond it and supporting the same. Steemit is not yet well saturated. It is very unsaturated actually if we compare it with other social media sites. If more people will know more about it and join, I believe that will further strengthen Steem. And why am I hopeful that people will come to Steemit? Because it offers something as compared to nothing from other social networking platform.

My strategy on Steemit is watch and learn, and grow from there. I came here totally not knowing anyone so I browse here, check articles there. I learn from those that I see - be it how others write their posts or how they engage with one another, what topic looks more interesting to the "audience" and more... I try to apply what I saw and learned as I go along - join contests here and there, engage left and right, up and down, help others even if you are a small fish like them.

And regarding rewarding those who leave good comments, let me do my shameless plug here: https://steemit.com/steem-bounty/@macoolette/good-engagement-and-how-to-inspire-them-steem-bounty-service

Steem Bounty is fairly new. I guess it is just about 4 months old but I see it a very good way to inspire good engagement. You can actually put a bounty on this post. 😊

Great contribution @macoolette. I have used @steem-bounty before but had no idea how much they offer. Thank you! Your post listed in your comment here is a great explanation of @steem-bounty and I will be able to make better use of them as a result.

You're welcome. I am glad you find it useful. 😊

I used to be very hopeful, but since the implementation of HF20I find it more and more difficult to keep that hope alive. The situation like it isat present is not only unfair to the smaller accounts, if nothing is done, it will eventually lead to the death of the platform.

  1. @steem-bounty can be very profitable.
I'm running giveaways and hosting contests to build my followers base.
75% of my time is spent on enfagement and networking, of which I think it is the most important factor if you want to grow your account here

Thank you @simplymike. I think you are awesome at engagement and networking.

Thanks for the kind words, @reonlouw :0)

Hi @reonlouw, I'm @checky ! While checking the mentions made in this post I noticed that @steemitbuilders doesn't exist on Steem. Did you mean to write @steemitbuilder ?
