The Importance of Maintaining Heart Health

Maintaining heart health is very important, considering the heart as the main organ in the circulatory tract. Therefore it is very important for us to do early prevention so as not to experience disturbance in the future because the heart is the main organ in determining human life and central organ that determines the reaction of the performance of other organs. Therefore, it becomes very important for us, especially those who have stepped on the age of 40 years and over to keep the heart to stay healthy.

A number of complaints, especially at the age of 40 years and over should be wary of symptoms of heart disease that is chest pain, pounding, fatigue, shortness of breath, there is a history of frequent fainting, swollen legs and other symptoms are often experienced when a person suffering from heart disease is severe pain accompanied by vomiting. The pain is on the back of the breastbone, then spread to the neck and shoulders. Another location is from the chest radiating to the jaw, then the pit of the liver.

To reduce some of the above risks, should be done prevention among others by regulating the pattern of life. For this prevention, there needs to be a better lifestyle change by doing positive activities that do not invite severe problems and reduce stress levels. Not only that, the pattern of cleanliness still needs to be maintained, both for personal and environment like a clean house.

In addition to lifestyle, the thing that needs to be considered as the main prevention is the diet especially at the age above 40 years. Seeds eat a balanced diet between carbohydrates, fats and proteins. All that can be prepared through a diet pyramid. The sequence is carbohydrates then protein and vegetables, then oil and fat. In carbohydrate consumption should be arranged in such a way that in accordance with the needs of calories in each age.

Other preventions that can be done is to exercise lightly such as brisk walking and swimming for one hour and done three times a week so as to maintain the normal function of the heart. By exercising can increase the metabolism of fat that is converted into energy and heat thereby avoiding the buildup, fat in the walls of blood vessels.

To keep the heart healthy, should be supported also with vitamin and meineral intake to help the body's metabolism process. It is also beneficial for heart patients with complications of diabetes mellitus. Therefore, vitamins and minerals help neutralize fatty acids in blood vessel walls, so as not to interfere with the performance of the heart.

As a medical student, I see a lot of patients with heart disease on the Emergency Room, many of them have a manegable condition, but others (like patients with Myocardial Infarction) die due to a poor cardiovascular health.
