By the grace of God I'm not what I used to be
There is a thought of a leading abolitionist named Newton who recognized the insufficiency of his spiritual life when he fell ill with a fever and professed his full belief in Christ, asking God to take control of his destiny. He later said that this was the first time that he felt totally at peace with God and one of the most frequently quoted thoughts of him is the following:
"I am not what I should be,
I don't know what I want either;
but by the grace of God,
I'm not what I used to be. "
(John newton)
Certainly all of us who have believed in God can say that by the grace of God we are not what we used to be because he in his mercy has given us his grace to give us an opportunity to feel his peace in this life
"Grace in the Bible. In the Old Testament it implies, first of all, a magnanimous attitude of gratuitous benevolence on the part of God that is later concretized in the goods that the recipient of such grace obtains, although God's favor continues to be considered non-obligated and gratuitous".
Hebrews 4:16
So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace to help us when we need it most.
(RVR1960)
God changes and transforms man in an impressive way, he changes our lifestyle when it is not in accordance with the biblical demands and does not build our life because someone who gets to know God can never be the same, that is, there must be a resounding change in their actions and thoughts and thus a life with purpose and a new identity is discovered
