Introducing Steemit on The Street of Paris, France !!! First Steem Human Billboard ! Day 1
Hello my fellow Steemians! My name is Layla, I am a young girl from France, I live in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. Today, me and my friends, we decided to do something very special for the steem community, we are going to advertise the website to the French people and also to the tourists in Paris. Paris is the capital and most populous city of France, so there is a high chance that you will meet a lot of people who may like to join us. First of all, we are going to build a big sign with the Steem logo on it, and I will show you a step by step on how we achieve this. We need paperboard, adhesive tape and a printer to print the Steem logo.
- Let’s start by cutting the paperboard into two part
- And then we need to put it together with some adhesive tape
- Finally, all we need to do is print the logo out and put it on the sign.
And this is the final product.
Now that we have our big sign with the Steem logo on it, it is time to print lots and lots of flyers, we are going to use it to introduce Steemit to the general public. I wrote a basic beginner guide and a little FAQ on the flyers to help them understand what is Steem. And now that we are ready let’s hit the street of Paris and promote steem to all the strangers.
I am quite surprised and amazed that a lot of people are interested in the Steemit concept, when I showed them the page Steem trending’s page, I could see that I was able to grab their attention and notice that "sparkle of interest", they couldn't believe their eyes that post could make 5000$ or even more. Their curiosity lead them grasp the basic concept of Steemit a lot quicker but the majority of the public are still very skeptical about it, mostly the older people, some of them even thought that I was some kind of scammer artist. I didn't put my makeup today so I dont feel very confortable showing my face today haha.
But it didn’t stop me from trying to introduce it to more people. The question that I get the most is “But Where does the money come from?” I tried to keep it as simple as possible without going into technical details. Facebook and Youtube are the most famous social media in France, so I am going to put them in my example.
I generally just tell them that on Youtube, you can create content and earn money from it, if you produce high quality video you will have more views, and more views means more money. And on Facebook, every time you like a content you're claiming that the content you “like” has some value in some way, but everyone knows that Facebook doesn’t pay you for liking a post, they just sell your information to the government and to the advertiser. Steemit gives everybody the possibility to earn some extra money from creating good or bad content and also when you “like” a good content.
When you write about interesting stuff or when you create quality material it's extremely probable that your article may start getting attention, in time the community will pick and reward good content. And like everything you do in life, some people may like what you post on your blog, others may not, but everyone is free to share their stories, advice or about whatever comes to their minds! This is the purest form of our freedom of speech and expression in my opinion.

Woot! User-driven advertising, this is so cool =)
Wow! This is real Steemer! The Steem Power!
Awesome Layla!! :) Totally #girlpower
I also made my attempt to promote Steemit in the real world by allowing people to brand their content with free stickers or just stick them anywhere they want. Check it out if you also want some stickers sent to you :) https://steemit.com/steemit/@dunja/free-steemit-stickers
Very Good Post!!!
Good job for sharing the info with others! Very creative :)
This is very creative! Indeed SteemLove from Paris! Good job!
I've upvoted your post, because you're doing really great job for the community.
Well done!
Jeez you've done such an awesome job! I think this is gonna trend ;)
Bienvenue! I have yet to create a post worthy of great response. However I believe you have a great one here that will go far. It seems since this site is in its infancy that info about it and of course the promotion of it has the greatest response to date other than some of the introduce yourselfs. I love that you took yourself out of the equation with the sandwich board pics and added the cat faces. That definitely makes the post more dedicated to the site than a "look at me". I believe you are very bright and will go far, Blessed Be
Now that's commitment... way to go!
I applaud your effort! I don't know how many people would know anything about Steemit out in Paris, but my hats off to you. :)
