“New Crypto Art (Late Feb. 2020)” by Richard F. Yates
Greetings folks,
Today, I drew a new thing and then I wrote a new thing to go with the new thing I drew. I decided, because nobody else was going to decide for me, that I would make the new drawing into a piece of crypto art (which has been---or is in the process of being---tokenized on the Ethereum blockchain by the fine folks at MakesPlace.) This work is being released as a single edition of ONE, and there will be no reprints. First come, first served. (And I might remind you that the last piece I posted sold in about an HOUR, so if you’re interested, you better jump quickly.) To see this piece (if it hasn’t sold yet) and all of my other bits and bobs, check out my MakersPlace store / slash / gallery. I have more than 50 pieces of eclectic, idiosyncratic, freakish art / slash / propaganda available for your viewing and reading pleasure (and---if you’re into it---collecting enjoyment. Digital collectibles are a new thing, but they’re kinda cool, if you ask me!) Meanwhile, here’s the newest thing!!!
“Spooky Spectre (Mungo Jeremy Has Troubles)” by Richard F. Yates
Mungo Jeremy flipped his car twelve times. It finally came to rest on top of some of what was left of his body. Since then, his hobbies have changed.
Jeremy now counts atoms. He couldn't before because he couldn't see them. He can't see them now, either, but this no longer bothers him---and he has time. Jeremy wonders why the walls keep changing around him. Jeremy wonders if THEY can see him. Jeremy wants to hum, but he's forgotten how.
Mungo Jeremy slipped on a bar of soap---and woke up in Weed, California. He vaguely recalls a car crash, rolling and such, but Jeremy has never OWNED a car. (How many atoms are in a Corvette Stingray?) Mungo Jeremy is happy to be alive, but he's not happy that he's in a cheap hotel in Weed, CA, with a head injury, no wallet, and a broken cell phone. He hums, slightly off tune, to "A Day in the Life." He is contemplating eating the glazed donut with the single bite out of it that's sitting (unguarded) on top of the telephone. He wonders if he was the person who had the first bite.
He still wonders if THEY can see him...

The STORY is my first serious attempt at flash fiction since I started my new meds. I’m reasonably happy with it, but if my head is all messed up, that might be why I like it. The IMAGE is a digital drawing created with a Sketch program on my phone. If you are amused by this piece, you might enjoy my OTHER odd creations, which you can check out at my store / gallery. If THIS piece is no longer there, that means it sold already. (Sorry…but not really.) In all, I’m just trying to have fun and give people something to chuckle at! If you snickered, snorted, giggled, or tssk-ed, these are also acceptable responses! Thanks for playing!!!
