Speaking of science education or philosophy we must know first what is education. So we will discuss a little what is education.

What is Education?

Education is a learning of knowledge, skills, and habits of people who are passed from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research. It covers all spheres of science, Science such as history, philosophical politics, religion to the science of the future. One's education often occurs under the guidance of others (not from parents or offspring), but also allows self-taught. And education is often associated with philosophy or often called "educational philosophy".

What is Educational Philosophy?

The philosophy of education is one of the branches of philosophy that deals with philosophical questions about the nature, purpose, and problems of education that are generally philosophical. As a branch of practical philosophy, its practitioners look into the disciplines of parent philosophy and come out into educational practice, as well as developmental psychology, more general cognitive science, sociology, and other relevant disciplines.
The most basic problem also comes from the philosophy of education, which concerns the objectives, such as:

  • What is the purpose of education?
  • Does education affect one's ideals?

or

  • What is the right way to evaluate education?

All that has been summarized in the philosophy of education.
Other important issues involve state and teacher authorities, and the rights of students and also parents. The characteristics of recognized educational ideals such as critical thinking, and supposedly undesirable phenomena such as indoctrination / the best way to understand and conduct moral education / questions about teaching, learning, and curriculum / and more. All that will be more discussed in the science of philosophy.

Relationship Philosophy Education with Philosophy

Concerning the science of philosophy - For most of the history of western philosophy, philosophical questions about higher education on the philosophical agenda. From Socrates, Plato, Aristotle to twentieth-century figures such as Bertrand Russell, John Dewey, Peters Hospital, and Israel Scheffler, general philosophers all answer questions in educational philosophy along with the care of their problems in epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of mind and language, and philosophy moral and social / political. The same applies to most of the major figures of the Western philosophical tradition, including Augustine, Aquinas, Descartes, Locke, Hume, Rousseau, Kant, Hegel, Mill, and many others.

This should not be surprising. For one thing, the search for philosophical questions about education partly depends on the investigation of the more familiar core areas of philosophy. For example, the question of curriculum on a regular basis depends on the epistemology and philosophy of curriculum subjects [eg, Should the science class emphasize the mastery of current theory or "doing" science? Is that about the art that gave him the right, if it became entitled, to a place in the curriculum? According to the criteria of what specific curriculum content should be selected? Should all students be taught the same content?].

Bringing the Philosophy of Education Back to Philosophy

All science shows a profound philosophical and truly philosophical character of education, and the benefits that can be gained with sustained attention, by students and general philosophers, for those questions. Most of them are written by leading general philosophers; they reflect a sophisticated mastery of the core areas of philosophy [in which these authors have made important independent contributions] and an in-depth understanding of the importance of philosophical questions about education. All of them provide examples of the benefits to be gained from useful interactions between educational philosophy and parental discipline.

So, essentially all science is very influential on education; Especially the science of "Philosophy of Education", Why? as we have discussed above, all the science of education is related to philosophy. Because philosophy not only teaches about something that has been finished but also teaches the basics of science so that we will better understand and deepen the knowledge.
