Another harvest was accomplished this morning.

My mom and I harvested some sponge gourd hanging on the branches of tall neem tree. IMG_20171017_070056.jpg
At first, we make a pole to serve as the propel in order to get it since the fruit was hung a little bit higher on the tree. After that, we started to hook those sponge gourd, we had a hard time trying to cop but we manage to get some of the fruit. IMG_20171017_070314.jpg

Some of the fruit have cuts and gashes due to the impact of falling from above to the ground, but some of those are on the lower portion of the tree and can be easily to get. IMG_20171017_070141.jpg

Sponge gourd is a cylindrical fruit that grows on a climbing, herbaceous vine. It has a smooth, green skin when young, and may feature ridge lines that run across the skin of the fruit. Sponge gourd is one of the healthiest green vegetables, it is basically a fruit but consumed as vegetables. To make it edible, one needs to harvest it at early stage of development. The fully developed fruit can be used as scrubbing sponge, it can be at bathroom, kitchen or even on your skin to remove dirt.
