Hello friends, I hope you are all well. For the last week of the Steemit Challenge contest, I will be sharing How to Photograph City Icon. I would like to thank the organizers of this challenge, and without further delay, I am starting my participation.

My Visit to the City Icon

I visited the World Trade Center building area in Agrabad, which is our city icon and well-known to everyone. As the commercial capital of Bangladesh, Chittagong’s World Trade Center is a significant milestone in commercial history for conducting business activities with the world. It is not just a building, but a modern gateway for connecting Bangladesh with the global economy.

Agrabad is one of the most important places in our city. This World Trade Center is located on Commerce College Road, in the alley next to Akhtaruzzan Center near the Agrabad intersection. It remains open every day of the week except Friday, and people come and go for their work during office hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Visual Storytelling And History

The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry implemented this project. Considering the importance of Chittagong as the commercial capital of Bangladesh, the plan to build an international standard trade center was taken in the late nineties. In 2006, the initiative to build it was started. This is the first and only building of its kind in Bangladesh that is a member of the 'World Trade Centers Association' (WTCA), New York.

This 24-story building was constructed using modern structures and high-quality materials; in other words, no effort was spared to make it an icon. This trade center provides modern facilities for various international businesses. It includes commercial offices for international companies, corporate office spaces, international hotel facilities, large conference rooms, and many other amenities.

The World Trade Center in Agrabad is essentially a symbol of Chittagong's business elegance and prosperity. As a result of its construction, Chittagong has been able to further consolidate its position on the map of world trade. Various business fairs are organized here, and additionally, the World Trade Center provides facilities for multiple banking and large-scale commercial services. It acts as a symbol of trust for foreign investors.

Story Composition

To compose photographs of this trade center building, I clicked close and wide shots from various points and angles. Since the height of the trade center is very high, the whole building cannot be captured in the camera frame from the front; therefore, I tried to take photos from a distance. For wide shots, I went back a few meters and captured the entire building along with its surrounding area.

After that, I went closer to the building and tried to take close-up shots. I had a very good experience while taking close shots. The design of the upper part of the building, especially the floors above the 10th floor, was unique. This design, consisting of exterior glass and tiles, caught the eyes of passers-by even from a distance. I got somewhat close to the front of the building and took close shots of the upper portion.

For detail shots, I walked a bit towards the east of the building and used the zoom lenses of my device to capture the wall textures and carvings of the building's design diagonally. Since my device has a 3x telephoto lens, I tried to take these detail shots; I really like taking such shots. Although I am not an expert in photography, I had a great experience while capturing the detail photos.

Meaning of a Place

The World Trade Center is located in a busy commercial area like Agrabad, so because of the road in front, vehicle movement and pedestrians are always seen. I noticed that most of the visitors were official types, meaning they were involved with these commercial companies in some way.

I couldn't take pictures of the flags because the security there was high and there was traffic from officials' car parking, so I tried to click the World Trade Center icon from a distance. From afar, it seemed like all the alphabets of the icon were shaped using some kind of steel-type material. Along with that, I also made a video of the live moments there.

I went close to the building and observed the surroundings for a while; to be honest, standing right under the building, the top could not be seen. I went near the entry gate, which was entirely made of glass and looked very modern. I stood right under the building and next to the entry gate to observe the surrounding environment.

Angle and Perspective

The best experience for me was when I was taking pictures with the wide-angle lens. I had never done photography of such a building before, so I tried to use all the camera lenses to get the best output. After capturing a few with the wide lens and reviewing them, I felt quite confident.

To capture the entire building area, I went to a slightly lower ground and kept the camera very low to ensure the top of the building fit in the frame; although there was difficulty seeing the display due to sunlight, I was able to capture the whole area of the building in a whole low frame. I really enjoyed taking these shots.
