The Regional coordination officers / District Coordination Officers in consultation with local elected public representatives would prioritize rehabilitation programme for which the Department will supply list of non functional schemes.

CONSOLIDATION / PRESERVATION OF EXISTING WSS ASSETS OF THE DEPARTMENT

It was decided to rehabilitative Rural Water Supply Schemes in Punjab. All allocations for new water supply schemes reflected in ADP, 2008-2009 shall be used to rehabilitate Rural Water Supply Schemes during the current financial year. PHED shall plan design, execute and implement the scheme in consultation with WASCOs and shall enhance capacity of WASCOs for sustainability and smooth functioning of the schemes.

COORDINATION BETWEEN PHED & WASCO

SDOs / CDOs / Sub Engineers / CBMs of PHED in Coordination with WASCOs shall carry out sustainable O&M of the schemes, and will provide necessary technical, financial and institutional support for revenue collection, maintenance of accounts and training to WASCOs for building up their capacity.
