This is my new post in the Steemit Crypto Academy community, on this season 5 week 1, I will be working on a homework from professor @wahyunahrul with the theme "Metaverse and Blockchain”.
we will discuss it through the homework below:
1.) Do you think the Metaverse is "the next level of Future Technology"? Explain your personal opinion by showing some evidence.
Technology is growing rapidly until now there have been many technologies that help us in living today's life. I feel the development of technology so rapidly at this time. One of the current technological developments that I feel is the development of mobile phones. In the past, to use cellphones, they always used a keyboard, but now no one uses a keyboard because all cellphones are now used only by touching the screen and are now referred to as smartphones. There are many more technologies that have developed at this time, but technological developments do not end here.
I was waiting for a technology that made me interesting, and now that technology has begun to be developed. I know this technology from watching Japanese anime films or usually called anime with the title Sword Art Online. In the film, players enter the game world like the real world, they can feel what is in it for real. This technology includes high-level technology, this technology is called Metaverse.
This metaverse is a concept of technology that allows us, users, to enter the internet and can feel on our senses like the real world. This metaverse allows us to interact directly in the virtual world with other users like the real world. The concept of this Metaverse existed before 2000 to be precise in 1992 which was introduced in a novel by Neal Town Stephenson. At that time the concept of the metaverse was still impossible to create, but now the concept of the metaverse is no longer impossible to create. On Thursday, October 20, 2021, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg officially changed his company name to Meta Platforms Inca or abbreviated as Meta. This metaverse allows us to travel online, buy digital clothes, and the like. This metaverse technology also helps us meet friends without having to meet in the real world, especially the current Covid-19 condition.
Currently, the metaverse concept has not been fully realized, but there is already a technology that resembles it, namely Virtual Reality (VR). I think this metaverse is the next level of future technology, the proof is that one of the biggest platforms, namely Facebook, has started to build the metaverse concept, not only Facebook or meta, some big companies have started to focus on metaverse technology. On November 16, 2021, reported by U.S News, 6 companies that have started focusing on metaverse technology are:
- Microsoft
- Amazon
- Nvidia
- Roblox
- Unity Software
- Autodesk
2.) Explain why Metaverse and Blockchain are compatible technology pairs.
If we talk about future technology, then we have to talk about blockchain. Every technological development must have advantages over the previous one which makes the technology more perfect. Blockchain is a digital data storage related to cryptography. Blockchain implements a decentralized system.
Metaverse is a technology related to digital or internet, when discussing digital or internet we must also discuss security in its use from cyber attacks, of course, every user wants to use something that has high security. If the Metaverse runs on the blockchain, the security from cyberattacks or fraud is higher, and also all our activities in the metaverse will be recorded on the blockchain and cannot be manipulated by irresponsible people.
Because this metaverse is digital, everything in the metaverse is digital and there is no legal proof of user ownership in it. For example, if in the metaverse we own a tool, land, or so on when we don't have ownership marks, other people can say that all the assets we own are theirs because there is no proof of ownership. However, if the metaverse runs on the blockchain and uses NFT then it will not happen because all the assets that we have in the metaverse will be recorded in the blockchain that it belongs to us.
In addition, to make transactions in the metaverse, we will use digital currency, or what we call cryptocurrencies. That way all our transactions in the metaverse will be safe and cannot be manipulated because they are already recorded on the blockchain.
3.) Choose a Blockchain-based Metaverse project and do a fundamental analysis of the project (Don't choose projects that have been discussed in the discussion above). (Screenshot Required)
To solve this problem I chose one of the blockchain-based metaverse projects, namely Star Atlas.
Star atlas is a blockchain-based metaverse project that is supported by real-time graphics, definitely implements DeFi (Decentralized Finance), and can also be played in multiplayer.
The background of this star atlas game is in the future, exactly in the year 2620, and is in outer space. And in this game there are 3 opposing factions fighting for territory and so on.
In this star atlas, there are two kinds of tokens, Star Atlas DAO (POLIS) and Star Atlas (ATLAS), both tokens have different uses. POLIS is used to have a say in game development. While ATLAS is used as currency in the game, so all transaction activities in the game use ATLAS coins.
Star Atlas DAO (POLIS) was ranked #384 on November 19, 2021 at 5:03 p.m. EDT or 10:03 UTC with a token price of $6.85. POLIS Market Cap is $148,035,357, Fully Diluted Market Cap is $2,467,255,945, Volume is $13,036,345, and Circulating Supply is 21,600,000 POLIS out of a total of 360,000,000 POLIS.
While the ATLAS are:
Star Atlas (ATLAS) on the coin market cap was ranked #276 on November 19, 2021, at 17:03 WIB or 10:03 UTC with a token price of $0.1313. ATLAS Market Cap of $283,610,815, Fully Diluted Market Cap of $4,726,846,915, Volume of $52,228,877, and Circulating Supply of 2.16B ATLAS out of a total of 36,000,000,000 ATLAS.
4.) Explain the steps for connecting a crypto wallet with a Metaverse project that you chose in question number 3. (Screenshot Required)
To connect a wallet to Star Atlas, first press on the Connect Wallet section as shown in the image below.
There are several wallets that we can connect to the Star Atlas, the recommended one is Phantom.
Before connecting the wallet to the star atlas, we have to install the phantom wallet on the internet application that is used, here I have installed the phantom wallet on my google chrome. Then press Connect on Phantom then there will be a notification from Phantom wallet to connect. Then press connect.
After the wallet is connected to the star atlas there will be a checkmark on the phantom section and there will be a wallet address at the bottom. After successfully connecting then press close.
5.) Explore the Metaverse of your choice and show the various features, advantages, and other unique things of the Metaverse project. (Screenshot Required)
In Star Atlas there are several features that we can access for our purposes, here are some of the features contained in Star Atlas.
- Home
In the home feature above we can connect the wallet to the home feature above, in the picture above I have connected the wallet to the star atlas.
This home feature also gives us a little overview of the star atlas, such as the unreleased functions of the Leaderboards, MarketPlace, Inventory, and Faction Selection features.
- Leaderboards.
In the leaderboards feature there are 3 menu options that we can access. The first is the faction, in this star atlas game we can choose 3 factions, namely Mud, Oni, and Ustur. On the factions menu leaderboard, we can see the total asset value of each faction, the top player for each faction, the top player asset value, and the total player. For top organizations, top organization asset value and total organization have not been released.
The menu organization has not been released yet and we can wait for its release.
In the player menu, we can see the overall top players along with their addresses, total asset values , and also the factions they enter.
- Marketplace
In the marketplace feature, we can trade, there are 4 menu options that we can buy in this market place.
The first is the ship, in this ship menu we can make purchases or sales of ships, the level of the ship also varies according to the price, the level of the ship starts from common to legendary.
The second menu structure, each structure available in this marketplace has its uses, which are certainly different for each use.
On the collectibles menu, we can buy or sell collections in the star atlas game.
The last is access, here are the achievements that we get, these achievements can be bought or sold.
- Inventory
In this inventory feature to see all the assets, we have, such as ships, structures, collectibles, and access. And here I do not have any assets.
- Events
Here we can see all the events that are in the star atlas game, and we can follow the events that will take place and of course, there will be prizes if we complete the ongoing events.
After knowing all the features available in this star atlas, then we will join the faction. You do this by pressing choose a faction.
As I explained earlier, here there are 3 factions that we can join, namely Mud, Ustur, and Oni.
The following are the data for each faction
In each faction, we can see the total asset value, total players, faction traits, and local resources.
To select the desired faction, just press choose. Here I chose to join the Ustur faction. This star atlas has very good graphics and also has interesting features to play with an interesting background story because 3 factions are fighting for territory. By using metaverse technology in games that have very good graphics, this game will be very beautiful. This Star Atlas also has a mini-game that can be followed by the players.
6.) Conclusion.
This metaverse is one of the technologies that I have been waiting for for a long time because the concept of this metaverse technology allows us to enter the internet and interact with other users in real time. By combining the metaverse with the blockchain, the metaverse will grow and also have high security. There have been several projects using this metaverse concept, although this metaverse does not yet exist, the metaverse may be realized.
