Ethereum founder threatens to leave as crypto fails to mature
The 23-year-old Russian set of his rant stating that people should make the difference between moving around big amounts of money and actually doing something meaningful for society , alluding that people get into crypto just to make a quick buck, but not because the believe in the innovative nature of cryptocoins.
He denounced the way people talk about crypto by sending out the following tweet: If all that we accomplish is Lambo memes and immature puns about 'Sharting' then I will leave.
Buterin ends his rant by questioning how many 'unbanked' people the crypto world has actually banked? or how many Dapps did we actually create that have substantial usage?.
For sure something to think about now cryptocoin values are ever increasing, but solutions that will help businesses, let alone society, seem to be lagging behind.
I think he is stupid and genius at the same time, not many people understand him..
Indeed it's naive to think that people are just going to use the concept of crypto & blockchain to build solutions that is going to make society better. It's a good thing that he believes in the bottom-up grassroots movement, but the road is still very long I'd say ;)
He has a very valid point!
If all people are going to do is be profit takers instead of using cryptocurrency as a currency, then there was no reason for crypto to be developed in the firdt place.
Rather than leave, it would be wiser if he worked on developing markets in which crypto can be utilized.
Very true, but the guy is a developer/mathematician, not a business man. The thing he could do is make the Ethereum network more accessible, because atm it's hard to build solutions for the reason that almost no one knows how to develop/build solutions on the Ether network.
