Painted Books of Humor and Protest

in WORLD OF XPILAR12 days ago (edited)

Here are a few homemade books I made this week and last. They’re painted on signatures and sewed together with a chain stitch. It’s borderline too long of a process for me, involving being hunched over for a long period of time. I have the will but not the shoulder stamina. The following are the titles and synopsis of each:

Free Art Frees Art —Captures the essence of the Free Art Frees Art movement inspired by the efforts of Edgeworth Johnstone and Black Ivory. A silver U.S. dollar will be attached on the back.

Abstract Advertism —Advertising not advertising, a conceptual art book.

Looking Out My Window on a Snowing Evening —On New Year’s Eve I sat in the chair looking out my window, and saw my conica Alberta spruce frowning at me.

Venezuela or Bust! —Paritten (paint-written) with rogue, terrorist U.S. government in mind. We are slaves to the capitalist system, eating Cheerios and buying cars.

Thanks for having a look! It’s dry round these parts in January. And I’m getting older. Oceans of lotions make the face feel good, but there ain’t no magical oil that can plump the human raisin.
