Hope everyone is doing well. Today’s update in R M Collection is all time favorite applique dresses. Applique work is specialty of Sindh which is very popular in other provinces of Pakistan as well. It is an art which requires great care and effort of the artisans.

Technique used in applique work is that cloth is cut into different shapes and patterns and is sewn on the foundation cloth with great skill so that rough edges of the cut cloth turn under.

It is having variety of shapes and pattern, and name given to it describes the pattern used. Different patterns are kingri style, Jaal applique, locket shaped, rilli style etc. In my forthcoming blogs I will write about more on applique work, as it is not just limited to dresses. Bedsheets, tea cozy, table covers and cushion covers can be made in applique work. Besides, It could be made in as many designs as is demanded by the customer.
