BURNED! White Dude gets Barbecued at Rajabhat University in Chiang Rai, Thailand [RRT 3]
Chiang Rai, Thailand: A sunny day in a sleepy town buzzing with action. Nobody would have ever guessed what happened just 10 kilometers outside the city at Rajabhat University.
As always everything started out peacefully
On this promising DD (which in no way is an abbreviation for Dooms-Day but rather for December-Day) many engaged NGOs of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai origin accompanied by caring citizens with social engagement gathered at Rajabhat University in Chiang Rai to attend WHISKids, an internationally broadcasted event dealing with the future of our children and their health, which was organized by OCN Thailand.
At this point, we want to thank Gareth Presch the initiator of WHIS which stands in short for World Health Innovation Summit which started with a Tweet and evolved into an international operating grassroot-organisation connecting humans all around the globe and bringing a revolution in healthcare. Thank you, Gareth!
This event was well received and got attention from beyond Chiang Rai's borders such as by BAAN DOI - The Orphanage in the Mountains near Mae Sai, renown fruit carver Nita Tong, health advocates & massagists from the IDI Thaimassage School as well as delegates of Chiang Mai's Silver Temple Wat Sri Suphan with two more other neighbouring temples and even Srihari Kapu, a WHIS member from India, who all were joyfully participating.
Yet no-one expected what happened next
The event started out pretty harmonious. Even a little screenplay prepared and acted out by hill tribe children could be admired. Everything was working out quite fine until suddenly bursting flames emerged!
According to witnesses, unknowing White guy Chana (ชนะ = WIN!) has been recording an uplifting video about the beauty and art of 'lom hăai-jai' (ลมหายใจ), the breath prior to this incident. You can watch this video right below! Glad he did as he'll soon be needed to implement his preaching into daily life. Oh boy if he just knew what was coming!
What was coming:
After Chana came back to the event he was immediately asked to change his pants and lay down in front of the watching crowd. Half-naked! While the crowd could see a topless guy lying in front of their feet, Chana could only see the reflecting backsides of upflashing smartphones ready to capture the following moments for all eternity.
Now his wisdom came into play. Luckily thanks to his prior recorded video he kept his head cool and prevented an enormous upcoming anxiety attack, even though something near him would end up in flames pretty soon, thanks to his knowledge about the power of the breath.
According to Chana controlling your breath is like using a remote control which serves as a powerful technique leading to more mindfulness through proper use. Click here to discover more ways to increase your mindfulness.
Has he ever been in any real danger?
Besides having the smell of BBQ in his nose, Chana reportedly never faced any real danger. Instead, he more subterranean underwent professional treatment.
The in the animation shown procedure involving burnt feet is a massage known as Yam Khang. Although Yam Khang carries the harmless name 'massage', it's power is better put to words using Fire Therapy!
During Yam Khang Fire Therapy the operating deep focused massagist dips his favorite foot into a pot of herbal oil.
The oil dripping foot is then placed onto a hot metal plate resulting in hissing and sizzling, and a (not so) little bursting flame to heat stuff up. Afterwards, he is using his foot to massage you down to your deepest layers.
During his performance, the masseur balances himself using a long stick to increase his overall stability.
While our floor-tied white guy may have felt anxious, the work of our massagist is the one requiring real willpower.
Not only does he need to be physically trained to perform the Yam Khang Massage, he also needs the mental strength to keep his body, and especially his favorite foot, hurt-free.
What is Yam Khang massage used for besides roasting feet?
The Yam Khang Massage has unique properties unable to be replicated by any other kind of massage because of the masseur's use of hot oil. This hot oil manages to get deep down to the muscles and the bones of the patient to relief any accumulated aches and pains.
While one treatment certainly is great, at least two sessions are recommended to achieve lasting results.
