UNFORGETTABLE ITALY contest: Week 33 ǀ Piazza Navona

in Italy3 years ago

Ciao, Italy community! I am more than glad to participate in the Unforgettable Italy contest one more time .

For the 33rd week, I am going to share with you guys a photograph that my travel companion took during my visit to Piazza Navona, in the Eternal City of Rome, I remember that the penultimate day of my stay I went to this famous square. Once there, we took the opportunity to capture some images of its beautiful fountains and sculptures. What I really wanted was to capture and preserve both in my camera and in my mind wonderful and unrepeatable moments.

As it is common in public places and squares around the world, we saw some street performers acting out in order to gain the respect and admiration of tourists and passers-by, along with some well-deserved tips. We were able to enjoy the shows performed by the talented musicians and artists in general.

I learned that this urban space has a lot of history to its credit, in ancient times a stadium was erected there for sports competitions and gladiatorial combats. Likewise, its sculptures, fountains and surrounding buildings have an immeasurable architectural value. For example, inside the square we can appreciate three fountains, the Fountain of the Four Rivers, built by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the Fontana di Nettuno and the Fontana del Moro, both designed by Giacomo della Porta.

Every tourist passing through Rome should visit this magnificent place to experience Piazza Navona as the social and cultural center that it is.

The picture is my property.
