What is your definition of "Home"

A home can be defined as an abode were we live. It is a place where we feel comfortable and safe.

Have you been away from home, Where exactly was it?

Yes had been away from home when I was little. I was seven when I went to live with my Cousin sister that just put to bed. She was living in Nsukka and schooling at the University of Nigeria Nsukka.

What was your experience like...interesting, boring, maltreated, loved etc...Kindly share with us.

This is a part of my past that I don't like telling people about, but I feel that sharing it here will make me feel better.

There is this saying that says that who knows you will be the one to harm you. I witnessed it first hand. The funny thing is that my parents sent me to go live with her not because we were broke but because of how close she was to my family and how she pleaded with my parents to allow me to come live with her.

I stayed with her for two years, and in the first year, she was nice to me but in the second year she changed. She melted all sorts of maltreatment on me. At a point, she accused me of being possessed saying that she had a dream where I was a witch and she made everyone in her house to isolate me. I so glad the way I turned out despite everything.

If you're given another opportunity to be away from home to the same place you visited, would you go? Give us reasons.

No I wouldn't because of the following reasons.

  • My self esteem was dealt with, my cousin seized every opportunity to insult me, and this affected me negatively.

  • I was emotionally deranged.

  • At a point I became very lean and sick due to starvation to the extend that people asked if I was sick.

Conclusion

Parents should not allow their children to live with people no matter the circumstances at home.

Thanks for reading through my post, I invite @akareen, @favbae, @knaus to participate in this contest.

It's not really easy going to live with someone, even the closest family relation can sometimes be green snake under green grass. I totally agree with ur take on not allowing children to live with people, might not know what they will face there.

I've learnt alot from your post @rossnenye
Good luck in the contest 🤗

With your experience at your cousin's place, that was very far to be termed home. Because home is a place we live and feel comfortable and even get love but yours was very far away from. Sorry about the terrible experience, my dear not all family members are good, I had similar experience when I went to stay with my aunt. I'm glad you came out strong. It is well with you, I wish you success

Wow🎖️nice to hear that you went to your cousin place to spend some time. And also so sorry for the insult, and also for the emotional default cause by your cousin. You have given a well detailed explanation about this great topic. I wish you success
