A Tour in the neighborhood of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium

Hello, friends on the Steem for Bangladesh community. I am excited to be here with you. My name is Ubong Francis; I am a Nigerian living in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.
It will be my pleasure to be your tutor and guide around some important places in my town. Let's take a tour of the stadium.

A stadium is an arena for hosting national and international sporting events, which could be track or field. I am not too sure if I should say football is our national sport. This stadium is a football stadium. Though the facility can also host sporting events like relay race, 100metres race, 200metres race, and huddles, the facility also has sand pits for long and triple jump.
I only wish it was as multi-purpose as London's Wembley Stadium.

Today's tour took me closer to entering the sports stadium named after the former governor of AkwaIbom State, who is now the sitting Senate President of Nigeria, Senator God'swill Akpabio.

This is how the outside of the stadium looks like.

From the view, the arena has a spacious parking space to care for spectators' vehicles. The outside is surrounded with security cameras mounted on strategic points of entry and exit for better security.
I learnt that this beautiful edifice has a 30000 sitting capacity.

This I will like to confirm by myself during the upcoming World Cup qualifiers' match between Nigeria and Zimbabwe on the 22nd of March, 2025. I hope to be there live. Trust me, I will give you all the updates from here.

Location of the Stadium

The stadium is located in the outskirts of the City. Precisely in the Southern region of Uyo called Obio Etoi. This location was wisely chosen to prevent traffic jams in the ever-bustling capital city during any international sporting events.

Your flight into Nigeria should land at the Lagos International Airport, and you will need another flight to the airport in Uyo, followed by a 20-minute drive on one of our beautiful roads down to the stadium.

Should you like to pay us a visit, we are just transitioning from the dry to the rainy seasons. I am sure you will love it here. Akwa Ibom State is known for its calm and peaceful atmosphere.
