After a bad start to the premier league campaign united is beginning to get things together. Out of the big boys in the Premier League, only Arsenal have a 100% record; they have a record of 4 wins in their first 4 games. They are currently top of the pl with 12 points. Manchester City has won 2 and drawn 2. After 4 games Liverpool finally won at home after beating Bournemouth by 9 goals to nil. Chelsea has won 2 and drawn 1 also losing 1 game.
It was another great weekend with most of dye interesting matches played on Saturday.
Southampton Vrs Manchester United
The premiered league weekend started with United vs Southampton away at the St Mary's. It wasn't surprising to see Ten Hag field in the same squad that beat Liverpool at Old Trafford to get their first win of the campaign. I expected the team to show a serious drive and to at least get a couple of goals to show their mean interest.
10 minutes, into the first half of the game I didn't see what I saw against Liverpool. It looked like United didn't know how to play how they played against Liverpool. The backline was incredible once again but the midfield and the front line didn't work at all. It looks like Elanga needs more time to get his heart into the game and I think he shouldn't be a starter at this time of this united team.
The first half ended in a stalemate with most of the chances falling to the feet of the frontman of Southampton Che Adams who didn't make most of those chances. In the second half, Bruno scores a beauty but the ending of the match was not pleasing at all. United should look to kill games early on even before teams start to disturb them in the closing hours.
Chelsea Vrs Leicester
It was expected that the Koulibaly Silva partnership will not be seen as the former picked up a red card in their defeat against Leeds. Once again Conor was given chance to prove his worth and try to field in for Kante but it seems the task asked of him was too huge as he ended up picking up a red card early on in the game.
Chalobah was called in to replace Koulibaly in a back 3 as Reece James was in that back line. Raheem Sterling and Kai Harvetz led the Chelsea attack. Early on in the first half Sterling was presented with 2 beautiful chances which he could not convert. Conor picked up 2 yellow cards after picking up a second yellow card for fouling and stopping a Leicester City counter-attack. After he picked up the card I thought Chelsea was doomed but this was not the case.
Early on in the second half, Sterling scored from an impossible place with a lofted effort over the keeper. I must say that Chelsea deserved it as they were the better side even though they received a red card.
Sterling got on the score sheet again after meeting a dangerous cross into the box by James to make it 2 to Chelsea. In the last 20 minutes, Leicester tried but could only get a goal back through Barnes.
Liverpool Vrs Bournemouth
After 3 games Liverpool had only 2 points and they were in the lower half of the table. Bournemouth wasn't a big challenge but they knew they needed a big win against their opposition after that loss to United.
By the end of the first half Liverpool, we're already 5 nil up with 5 different goal scorers. Out of this, the surprising thing was that Salah had no goal or assist in this. So most of us for FPL reasons sake expected him to register a goal or assist in the second half. In the second half, they added 4 goals making it 9 and Salah still had no hand. Firmino registered 1 goal and 3 assists with Luiz Diaz registering 2 goals. Off the bench, Calvaho registered a goal too.
Manchester City Vrs Crystal Palace
After fighting for a draw against Newcastle, Manchester City didn't expect it to be tough against Palace but Vieras Men were determined. Within the first 40 minutes, City was already 2 goals down. They meant to win they needed to fight back and win or will have to drop points as they did the previous week.
They were able to defeat Vieras men by 4 goals to 2 thanks to an Erling Halland Hattrick. They are now second in dye premier league standings just 2 points behind the leader's Arsenal who are having a very good season.
Arsenal Vrs Fulham
After arriving in the Premier League Fulham is proving to be one of the toughest teams to beat. Arsenal came into this match knowing fully well what they would be facing after Fulham were able to Salvage a point against Liverpool.
The game was an exciting one as Arsenal looked to take the lead early on in the game through Odegaad but he was denied by Leno. Fulham took the lead through Mitrovic after Gabriel held on to the ball for too long at the back.
They managed to win the game by 2 goals to 1 through a Gabriel last-minute goal. This means Arsenal was able to maintain their 100% win this season and I hope they can compete for the pl.
