Titian Vecellio "Assunta" (Ascension of the Virgin Mary)

in #photography8 years ago

The canvas "Assunta" belongs to a collection of early works by the Italian artist Vecellio Titian, however, it is she who greatly glorified her creator. The picture was created for three years since 1516.
It was intended for the central altar of the Venetian cathedral. And after writing it, the artist receives official public recognition. The common people admire the works of Titian, and titled noble persons are fighting for the right to own them. This triumph is explained by the freshness of the creative thinking of the creator. He transforms the character of the altar face, makes him filled with intense emotions and feelings. The composition of the religious canvas acquires a completely new construction.
"Assunta" is easier and more understandable sounds like "Ascension of Mary". It impresses with the truth and the proof of the content. Looking at the picture, you do not recognize the scene. Only small patches of the earth's surface at the very bottom give some support for understanding. All the characters, the color and spatial solution, the play of light and shadow serve a single purpose - to show the ascension of the Mother of God.
Maria is not written in free flight, she is lifted by a cloud surrounded by a choir of angels. Her whole body expresses understandable and easily readable spiritual impulses: the head thrown back in ecstasy, panegyrically upturned hands express ecstasy, exultation and enthusiasm. The color palette of the picture is consistent with the composition plot: intense and dark shades from below, as they move upward they lighten the gradient, become weightless, step by step turning into the color of gold at the upper semicircle of the canvas.
Joyful experiences of the Madonna, young and beautiful, looking at her enchanted apostles, strong and equally beautiful - everything in the picture is permeated with life-affirming optimism and fascinating spiritual power.
