The very first seat on New Shepard sells for $28 million

in Steem Links3 years ago

It is incredible what human beings can pay to leave our planet 🌏 a flight that only lasted 11 minutes I think that with those 28 million it could help many families in need who are going through an economic crisis due to the pandemic, but one thing is what we poor think and other things is how the millionaires who give money to foundations think without knowing that 100% will be destined for the help of the people who really need it.

Now let's wait for how many millions the fourth seat is sold for.

Today, Blue Origin concluded the online auction for the very first seat on New Shepard with a winning bid of $28 million. Nearly 7,600 people registered to bid from 159 countries.

The winning bidder will fly to space on New Shepard’s first human flight on July 20, and will join Blue Origin founder, Jeff Bezos, and his brother, Mark.

The winning bid amount will be donated to Blue Origin’s foundation, Club for the Future, whose mission is to inspire future generations to pursue careers in STEM and to help invent the future of life in space.

Here's the video from the flight.

Thanks for the video, the trip was a success, although I thought that the ship would land completely, I did not think that the capsule would separate from the engines.

I have a question, who is the elderly lady who flew in the new shepard?

Forget the question, I know who she is: Wally Funk

Wealth, for some reason, causes humans to detach themselves from humanity. How ironic that $28 million could have also gone to help poor black communities, like the one Jay Z actually came from. Instead, it goes to the ugliest car I have ever seen, with a picnic table in the back!

You are absolutely right with tell you that here in Venezuela with $ 3,000 that Jay Z granted could change the life of any Venezuelan family, the salary here is only 15 dollars a month that is not enough for anything and we Venezuelans are looking for a way to survive, I With 28 million dollars I would invest 10 million in steemit to help change lives.

I would not give alms to users who have talent and want to improve themselves, I would give a 100% vote I know that with a publication of 500 steem it would solve his life for a few months and the other 18 million I would see what you do with him, but sure I would help more people in physical life.

My god, There are 28 million lost there.

That's very noble of you to want to help others instead of just helping yourself. I am very aware of the poverty that is taking place in Venezuela, but I am also certain that I really cannot imagine how bad it truly is. The Venezuelan community on Steemit is very large and active, but I believe some users are on this platform looking for any kind of economic assistance they can find, so they can't really dedicate themselves to this blockchain as much as others can. It's not their fault, and I don't blame them for wanting to put some bread on the dinner table. I hope and pray that you and your family are doing your very best to survive and stay positive.

Thank you very much for your good wishes to my family. You are right, most Venezuelans are here in steemit to be able to earn some money to survive, I think that the massive flow of steem withdrawals comes from the Spanish-speaking community.

Thank you for your honesty. There is nothing wrong with wanting to feed one's family, and if Venezuelans have figured out how to buy some food with their STEEM, then I am very proud of them. I am a father, uncle and grandfather, and I will do anything to make sure that los niños y las niñas always have food, clothing and shelter.

But I also want to see the Steemit platform and the Steem blockchain remain healthy, so I encourage everyone to Power Up at least 50% of what they earn, and to share ideas and talent that could help us bring more investments to Steem.

Very good thoughts towards the platform, I also aspire to invest in steemit soon but first I have to get out of a debt that I have in real life, I know that on the platform I can get all my potential but I also have to find a babysitter to help me take care of the girls to have more free time to publish even if it is a daily publication since it has become impossible for me to publish daily.

I'm curious to hear who the winner was. The article just says that the winner, and a 4th crew member, will be announced in upcoming weeks.

I think that the lucky person who won the auction has to be an artist like Jay Z who does not give the slightest pain to give that amount of money to only enjoy 11 minutes of travel. could also be a millionaire sheikh from Saudi Arabia

I'm half-wondering if it was @justinsunsteemit. ; -)

I don't think Justin is one of those who gives away money like that easily, I don't know why, but Koreans in that sense are very conservative.
Just look at the trend zone, the Koreans there don't vote for anyone other than themselves.

Well, a couple years ago, he paid $4.5 million for lunch with Warren Buffett. Odds are that you're right and it's not him, but I wouldn't be totally surprised.

Hopefully Justin gave me a delegation of 10 thousand steem not to be demanding, because I think that paying 4.5 million for a dinner is something exaggerated, recently I was walking down the street and I bought 2 hamburgers, one for me and one for my daughter less without asking the price after I ate the hamburger I asked for the bill and they told me it was $ 10, I almost had a heart attack and I am still young to suffer a heart attack. I saw the price too expensive, that happens to me for eating without asking.

Have the winner and the crew members been announced yet? Just a curious follow-up.

The fourth crew member was announced, Wally Funk. I still haven't heard who the winning bidder was, though.

The launch is in eleven days, so I guess they have to announce soon.

Initially, I thought Wally Funk was a man, but it turns out to be ab 82 years old woman who used to be a pilot. If all goes as planned, it will be a historic moment for women. I hope her old body can stand the take-off turbulence and vibrations

I had the same confusion when I first read her name.

I hope her old body can stand the take-off turbulence and vibrations

Good point. Or even just the excitement of finally getting into space. I'm sure she's willing to accept the risk, but it would be a big setback for the program if she were to have a heart attack or a stroke in flight or in the following days.

I guess they've done a huge battery of medical tests on her, so hopefully she'll be fine.

Would it be superfluous for the organizers to add a handful of medical team on board? Just as a precautionary move because machines are usually predictable but humans on the other hand are usually not.

Not sure, but I don't think the ship is big enough for that. They only have 4 people in the crew. I'm assuming that's pretty close to capacity.
