My Porsche project
In 1988 We were in the market for a new car. Michelle (@michelle.gent) and I looked at Porsche 911s and Mercedes 380/450SL.
We looked at a blue and a bronze Porsche 911 Targa
We also had a drive in a Mercedes 450SL.
Michelle fancied a Mercedes but I talked her around to the 911.
I did find another car I liked but after taking a look I decided it was not practical for an everyday car.
A Ferrari Dino 246GT in red. It was £10,000 and would be worth over £400,000 now.
In the end, on 2nd October 1988 we purchased a white Porsche 911SC from Autobahn in Coventry. It cost £13,950 and that's about £35,000 in today's money.
It was born on 28th August 1978 and registered on 17th October 1978.
In 1994 I was made redundant from the mines and we decided to put the car away in my dad’s garage until I got another job that could pay to keep it running. The value of the car was down to around £5,000 at that time and we didn't think it was worth selling. We also thought it would not take long to get it back on the road.
This is what it looked like after being stood in my dad’s garage for 17 years.
We then had some work done on it.
New front brakes and suspension.
Petrol tank.
And some welding on the right inside wing.
Then we ran out of money and after a few problems and about a year away, it was put into my garage.
That's were it has been for the past 7 years. Making it 24years since it last ran.
I now plan to use steemit to help get the car back on the road again by following its restoration and using any funds raised on my car posts.
Good project. Looks like new :) Restoration takes a lot of time. I know it. We have been restoring an old Moskvich 400 1950 car for several years.
Put up some photos and info. I have never heard of a Moskvich 400

Awesome post, I really enjoyed it. I hope you appreciate the vote!
More to come on its progress. Thanks
Wowww amazing!! Nice project
Thanks
Its not much, but heres my 100% upvote! I look forward to seeing the progress, nothing quite as rewarding as driving your car after spending some time wrenching on it to get it road worthy again. Good luck!
Thanks. Would like to have the time to work on it but it will just never happen.
I understand. I have been slowly restoring an old Silverado, but once I finish one thing I find 20 more that need work.
Yummy Porsche - even if it needs some help right now, lol. I wish all the best for you to get this project completed and on the road soon!
Hope to get it back for next summer.
I really hope you get the necessary funds to get it back on the road mate. This is an awesome project!
Thanks for sharing!
Steemit is a good method of directing my blogging efforts towards a goal and using any funds it can generate. Thanks
It was not worth much, but every penny counts when it comes to cars. So I upvoted your car fund. It will be nice to see a video of it running when you get it done. I am sure it will be well worth the cost to get it road ready again.
Thanks. It's been a long time and we are very much looking forward to driving it again.
How we love that car, what an amazing example - restoration is true love for a vehicle.
We do not plan on having it fully restored to best in show condition. We want a car we can drive again. It will still look fantastic though.
