Automatic detection of Fake News!
We are having a lot of fake news, false stories through the media. Those media people appoint inspectors or moderators to analyze the reliability of the news or story.
Now an algorithm based system is developed by the researchers in The Michigan University. And they demonstrated the system which they claim better than human moderators, in some situations.
Human editors, moderators or other staffs cannot keep up with the miss information or false news, there is always a fall. But this algorithm is tested and proved a 76 % success rate, where human accuracy was 70 %.
“You can imagine any number of applications for this on the front or back end of news or social media site,” Mihalcea said. “It could provide users with an estimate of the trustworthiness of individual stories or a whole news site. Or it could be the first line of defense on the back end of a news site, flagging suspicious stories for further review. A 76 percent success rate leaves a fairly large margin of error, but it can still provide valuable insight when it’s used alongside humans.”
