Here's how to raise leeches or leech cultivation:

Preparation of Leech Livestock

Livestock or leech cultivation does seem easy but for those who have little knowledge about the cultivation of leeches. To get a satisfactory result, there are some preparations that need to be done include first, you should pay attention to the temperature of the leech breeding media. For saplings, the temperature used is about 18-20 degrees Celsius and for the enlargement of leeches, the required temperature is about 25-30 degrees Celsius. The temperature for the leech should always be stable do not change.

The second is the pool. The recommended pond for cultivation or livestock is a wall of water with a water level of about 30 cm. Use of this wall pool is recommended because the temperature in the wall of the wall is not easy to change so dap [at make it easy to set the required temperature. In the pond are given some objects such as fractions of tile or the other for media attachment of leeches. Swimming leech cultivation should be covered by using a wire screen to prevent leeches in the pond blur and disrupt the surrounding environment.

The Beginning Process of Leech Farming

After making preparations, then to the process of raising leeches or to breed leeches. In the technique of cultivating these leeches, breeders can get sires by buying on other breeders or their own livestock. The thing to note when it is decided to buy broodstock is ph from water and humidity. Preferably, the pH of water is about 5 to 7 while for air humidity is about 30% to 40%. Once ready, enter the leech parent in a pool that has been prepared. In one pond size of 1 m2 can be filled with about 800 leech breeders.

In the pool do not forget to put media for the leech sticking and create a pool resembling the original leech environment. In its natural habitat, the leech will attach its eggs to the roots of the plant but in the cultivation of media that can be used to attach the leech can be sand, used tile or the other. In the technique of raising leeches, broodstocks should be chosen breeders that have been at least about 6 months old.

The existing broodstocks should be fed at least once a week. The feed given may be eels, catfish or slippery-skinned animals so that leeches are easy to eat.

Continued Process of Livestock Farming

Breeding leeches from sires will last for about 6 months. Typically, the leech mothers will start laying eggs upon entering at least 15 days. The eggs of the leeches will be wrapped in cocoons for about one to two weeks. In a cocoon of leeches, there are about 12 to 20 leeches. To avoid sires eating newly hatched leeches, separate the mother and child in different pools.

The leech children are new breeds that can be cultivated to be mated or raised and sold. Children of these leeches should be feeded pellets every 2 weeks for approximately 2 months. In raising leeches, the ideal age for harvesting leeches and selling them is after leeches are about 4 to 6 months old.

This is a Fear Factor challenge, I saw this episode. I'm going to give you a follow, Joe!

yes it looks like a fear factor, but when used properly, this animal is very useful for the health of the body @zastels

this was very informative, and something new and interesting to learn about.

yes you are absolutely right, something new this can be very useful for all.
maybe in the next post I will discuss how the process of therapy using this leech, is very good for health @jznsamuel

that's very interesting. I have so many questions lol

You mentioned keeping them at a consistent temperature, so are they kept indoors or outdoors?

I'm also wondering if they have a smell?

to keep the temperature they should be stored inside the house, because when outside the house temperature can change due to weather.
These leeches do not smell, but keep their whole body covered with mucus @leaky20

Interesting. Thanks for the additional info

I'm just going to say "wow".

These are such creepy and vampiric creatures.. I just couldn't believe how massive those leeches were on your hands! Were they sucking your blood????

Having to hold back that "icky" feeling

nick

yes really they look creepy like a vampire sucker. but this leech does not suck my blood.
Usually leeches will suck blood if there is a wound on our body, it makes it easier for them to find a place to suck blood @nickmorphew
