Well, it’s easy and interesting when you’re been asked to narrate one of the good things that ever happened in your life. Steemit have been helpful both financial and academically. I still remember it like yesterday, the night when one of my friends created the accounts for me.

It was in a long while when my source of income was through spot betting. I stake with my pocket money which I win sometimes and lose sometimes but in all my losses were more than my wins. Aside school, spot betting was my daily job till the night that saved me from this calamity. Before the night I signed up on steemit, a friends talked about it and asked me to join but I told them I preferred betting to whatever they were writing on that platform. I didn’t imagine it being real, how can you create content and get paid.

What motivated me was when a friend who is no longer on this platform cashed out ghc2,000 ($200). He was introduced long way before we got to know about steemit. All my guys in the hostel had already joined, as they were convinced by @njaywan, our ex country representative. It was on the night of 13th March, 2021, that I created my account on steemit platform. Though it was @njaywan who talked about it to us, I was personally introduced by @farhmade, he helped by creating the account, asked me to safe my keys in a secure place and assisted in writing my introduction post.

We all got to know about steemit on campus, Navrongo UDS. I few months to the Covid that it was introduced to the house. My everyday day post was diary game of which I was getting support from booming. My colleagues were getting upvotes from steemcurator01 and steemcurator02 but I wasn’t lucky by then and it got me demoralized.

I planned on leaving the platform and going back to my sport betting as writing was very stressful and I wasn’t even getting any better upvotes. Then @njaywan told me to have patience and that when he joined the platform, his total rewards for three months weren’t up to $10. It got me motivated to keep writing quality post and belied that the curators will notify me some day.

Then Easter came and we organized steemit Easter meetup. We had a lot of people talking about how to earn upvotes from steemit, the communities you can joined to get curated and many other important opportunities. I got to know the steemit crypto academy during this meetup and that change my story.

I joined the crypto academy for the first season and published only three post, one was plagiarized and the other two were graded low, but I still got curated by the rules of the academy by then. Season two came and all my posts were on the assignments of the crypto academy. Before joining the academy I had 52 reputation, my reputation began increasing tremendously and my steem power as well.

At some point in the academy, you needed to have been a verified achievement4 user and that was when I took time to complete my achievement tasks. It was very interesting and educative with the academy as I learned a lot about cryptocurrency which was my optimum goal for joining steemit.

At some point I sold some of my earnings to fiat, I first transferred it to a friend who knew how to sell tokens online. The first transferred I made was 123 steem which gave a return of ghc 950.00 ($95). It was a big amount to me as I have never had such amount oh my own. I couldn’t believe the money was real even though it was in my mobile money accounts.

With all these benefits on steemit, I didn’t want to be selfish so I introduced a lot of people to the platform, I can’t even remember some of their user names but those I can’t forget are @salim15, @gida1, @muda, @haque123. During my internship together with @binsonhabib, we educate a our colleagues and the general public about steemit. We signed up several users and help them in writing their achievement tasks.

My stand now on this platform though hasn’t been like it used to be but I’m much grateful for all it offered me. I’m able to build my reputation to 67.131. With my steem power, the highest I have ever build was 2,983 steem but due to financial difficulties I powered down to 553 steem power.

From the past few months I worked hard to build my steem power to 791.402, I have also joined the club75 initiative to power up 75% of my earnings every month to help build my steem power. Bearing the tag of club75 isn’t easy at all, you are always tempted to join club5050 as you will withdraw half of your earnings which will be much better in solving your financial issues, but as the goal is to build my steem power now, it’s either club75 or club100.

Currently I have a reputation of 67.131 and a steem power of 791.402. I have also gained 74 followers and have in total of 955 post for comments and replies at the time of writing this post. Though I have been engaged with academic activities, project work as a final year university student and a lot of mini projects and assignments but I still make time to publish 4 or 5 post a week.

Joining the steemit platform have been one of the good things that ever happened in my life, exposing me to the crypto world, improved on content writing, met new friends and over all solved some of my financial difficulties. The journey so far has been grateful and I’m looking forward to building up my steem power as it’s the optimum goal for me now.
