"SLC | S21W6 : Video Learning Materials"
I still remember that when I take admission in university around 4 years back then there was lock down in Pakistan and almost in all countries of world where there was COVID and at that time all educational activities shifted to online because they can't be skipped in any case.
I am not from village so I have not any difficulty in having an availability of good internet services but many students have encountered problem of unavailability of internet and today again I have assumed that as I am a teacher, although professionally I am not a teacher or professor but I am just at end of my completion of doctor of physiotherapy degree and I have passed through different class presentations so I believe that I have good communication skills that are teacher should have so I am presenting myself in the video at topic of "Chest physiotherapy"
Following are contents of topic I have explained above in video lecture:
Chest physiotherapy is main topic
√ Chest physiotherapy introduction
√ Indications of chest physiotherapy
√ Chest physiotherapy techniques
Chest physiotherapy introduction |
---|
Chest physiotherapy is basically a rehabilitation technique for respiratory health which main purpose is to improve overall functioning of lungs, increasing mobility in lungs for improving exchange of gases so that lungs ventilation may improves.
Chest physiotherapy indications |
---|
Before talking about chest physiotherapy invitations it is important to know that you should aware of the word indication that I am using so indication are those conditions in which you can use or implement or apply particular thing so now just physiotherapy indication meaning the conditions in which you can perform chest physiotherapy;
• In chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder just physiotherapy should be used because of improving pulmonary health as this disorder is related to lungs.
• In atelectasis chest physiotherapy should be performed which is basically collapse of lung that can be complete or partial.
• In case of pneumonia chest physiotherapy should be performed because accumulation of mucus occurs in lungs love so for mobilizing the secretions chest physiotherapy becomes important in this case.
• In post operative conditions like after thoracic surgery patient will not move much which will cause respiratory problems so for minimizing respiratory issues test physiotherapy should be performed in such patients.
• In bronchiectasis chest physiotherapy should also be performed because this is dilation of bronchioles which cause disturbance in exchange of gases so chest physiotherapy can help with this condition also.
• In lungs cancer when cancerous cells production increase then chest physiotherapy becomes important to minimise effects.
Overall in all conditions related to pulmonary health chest physiotherapy is indicated.
Chest physiotherapy techniques |
---|
√ Postural drainage
Postural drainage is first and important step in chest physiotherapy because if you are not doing it proper then it means other techniques are not much effective.
Postural drainage is to maintain that posture of patient through which drainage can occur easily. For making its understanding more clear you can take a practical example from daily life;
Suppose there is a bottle in which there is some honey and you want to take it out from bottle so definitely from getting honey out from bottle you will tilt bottle in downward direction so that honey may come out of the bottle.
In same way, when we have to mobilise accessive mucus from any lobe of lungs so according to that we will make posture of patient for performing chest physiotherapy technique.
√ Percussion
Percussion is our technique in which you will make your hands just like shape of cup which will be convex from outer and concave from inner as I have shown in video and then you will keep your wrist joint very freely and start tapping on chest wall in a rythmic way and for minimum of 20 seconds with 4-5 repitition you will perform for best results.
√ Vibrations
Vibrations will be performed after percussions by placing one hand over other and locking both of them with each other and then applying downward and forward pressure or you can also use any massager or vibrating mobility for this.
√ Shakings
With same hand positioning shaking will be performed by moving hand to and fro with pressure as I am doing in video.
At last, we will ask patient to huff and cough with glotis close and open and that was all about content I have explained in my video lecture.
In my personal point of view communication skills are very important and they have equal importance as knowledge is important for a teacher. I am clearing my point of view with following reasons;
Why these are important |
---|
• With effective communication skills teacher can easily compile all the instructions for meeting needs of students which students actually require.
• Students desires about knowledge maybe fulfill that student expect from teacher if teacher will teach in light of best communication skills.
• With good communication skills teacher may motivate students to take part in class activities which helps to maintain and interactive engaging and positive environment of class.
• With good communication skills students will freely share constructive feedback about lecture and about teacher learning style while it's not possible if teacher have introvert type nature or if teacher communication skills are not friendly.
Why not these are Important |
---|
I think having good communication skills is positive thing but still there are some students that don't take importance to communication skills of teachers and mostly the students are those who have more focus in cramming than taking concepts of lecture deeply but overall I don't think so that any sensible person can say that these are not important things to have strong communication with students.....
Following are my experiences and obstacles I faced in online learning system;
Experiences |
---|
• As I am saying that I am not from village that's why related to any obstruction from internet I have not bad experience so it was definitely fine for me to organise an online video class with online learning material at chest physiotherapy.
• I experienced to manage online learning materials effectively by arranging all my contents I need to include for delivering lecture at chest physiotherapy including its introduction, indications and techniques with practical examples.
• I experience with creating and generating of interactive stimulations for students by giving real world scenarios or examples as I have given in case of postural drainage about bottle and honey to develop interest of students.
• As I am not a lecturer professionally so most importantly I experienced that how it is to be a teacher professionally and to teach students with effective communication skills so finally I have great experience with it because I speak fluently as you can see in video so I observed that I have great communication skills and I can adopt teaching as profession if I want in future.
Obstacles |
---|
• This was an obstacle for me to eliminate irrelevant information that is not related to chest physiotherapy specifically to save time.
• This was an obstacle for me to keep class engaging throughout the lectures and for this I started to give real world examples for developing interest in students.
• This was an obstacle for me to compile a lot of knowledge and to deliver it in minimum time so that students will not get bored due to lengthy lecture which don't contain much information but contain irrelevant information but by my good communication skills I was able to deliver maximum knowledge in minimum time.
Special invitation to;
👍 Me gustó leerte. 🙋🏽♀️
