Dream
A dream is a series of thoughts, images, emotions, or sensations that occur in a person’s mind during sleep. Dreams can be vivid or vague, happy or frightening, realistic or completely fantastical.
There are two main ways to understand dreams:
⸻
- Biological/Psychological View:
• Sleep phase: Most dreams occur during REM sleep (Rapid Eye Movement), a stage where the brain is very active, almost like being awake.
• Brain activity: Dreams are believed to reflect the brain’s processing of memories, emotions, and experiences.
• Theories:
• Freud’s theory: Dreams express unconscious desires or hidden emotions.
• Modern theories: Dreams may help us solve problems, process emotions, or store memories.
⸻
- Symbolic/Cultural View:
• In many cultures, dreams are seen as messages, signs, or even prophecies.
• Some people believe dreams can predict the future or reveal deep truths about life or the self.
⸻
Fun Facts:
• Everyone dreams, even if they don’t remember.
• On average, people have 3–6 dreams per night.
• Lucid dreaming is when you know you’re dreaming and can sometimes control it.
