THE HISTORY OF OLYMPICS
There are a many great stories about Olympics games and about who started those but we don’t know which of them is true. About 2,800 years before us there was a race in Olympia, the ancient name of Greece. The athletes in the race ran about 200 meters, and a guy called Coroebus, from Elis, won the race. He became one of champions in Olympic Games. The only true to be believed is that the Greeks started the Olympic Games. The ancient Greeks loved the sports very much. Around 776 BCE, the Olympic Games begin at Olympia and the decision was made that it will held occasionally after utmost four years in Greece.
The games were most biggest and important events in all Greek competitions. As the Olympics started the athletes began came from all over the world such as Italy, turkey and Africa and from Armenia, Egypt and Spain in future. During the sessions of Olympic games there were many fights ongoing in Greece but before a month when Olympics was going to start they stopped and this is a true and good fact ,this shows that Olympics had good were going to start this was a good influence of Olympics on them and it also helped athletes very much.

The earliest Olympic Games only held for one day. We all know about the Greek mythology, Zeus was the biggest god among all so Olympics was held when there was ceremony for their great god. At that time Olympics only had one game that was a 200 meters race that was commonly called as STADE by them. Afterwards the Olympic Games became three and five days longer. Now new races such as DIAULOS arrived that was 400 meters long and after them more such as fighting, horse and chariot racing, jumping and throwing events the most funniest of them was a shouting competition the man with the loudest shout takes the prize. Now I wouldn’t want to participate in that one.

However the most difficult ancient sport was PANKRATION. These athletes were toughest and strong, they were not permitted to use their teeth or use their fingers to punk someone’s eye but they could fight with their muscular hands and strapping feet. These fights were dreadful and athletes sometimes died.
At those times Olympic champions were appreciated by giving olive branches and they wore them on their heads* on the winners’ ceremony. They did not win medals like athletes of today but they gain respect in their towns by winning these games. Leonidas was the great champion of ancient Olympics at that time. The Greeks were orthodox at that time and the women were not given consent to participate in games and married ones’ could not even watch the games but after every four years the Herean games took place which were only for women like the Olympics.

Both Olympics and Herean started at the same instant, soon the stadium for Olympics was first built in sixth century BCE, and after that they made buildings too. The quiet fields of Olympia slowly began to turn into a small city the pools and gyms also began to rise, and were used by athletes at their training. Most of them slept in the fields but while the rich people slept in the hotel that was known as Leonidaion. At the middle of Olympia a building was built for Zeus. At very first day of Olympics people burnt a flame and it stayed there until the games were over. By the time of second century, the roman soldiers had an illegal occupation on the small states and in 146 BCE Greece also became a state of Roman Empire. At this all the athletes began to arrive from all over the roman world. They changed Olympics games a lot and the games became bloody cause most of athletes died in those fights. The ancient Olympics had much fame and they carried on for nearly 1,200 years. But in 393 CE Roman Emperor Theodosius end the games because he did not wanted to celebrate about Zeus. The Olympic buildings began to fall and people started to or got about the city but one thing could not be forgotten, the reasons why the wars stopped. Olympics had turned out their caste system as all poor and rich, strong and best competed in the events.
