ColorChallenge - SundayPurple - ExperimentingWithColor
This post is part of the #colorchallenge organized by @kalemandra
For me, part of the fun of the monoprinting process is experimenting with different color combinations. There are times when I go to far and end up with mush...a learning experience nonetheless. There are other times when the colors I chose mix into a new hue that is totally unexpected. What I also enjoy, probably the most, is the transfer of color or images that were left on the printing plate from previous attempts...like the Ghost of Christmas Past (in a good way). In the painting I am sharing today, you can see bits and pieces of all of those things.
I hope you enjoy my little experiment!
WHAT IS A MONOPRINT?
My monoprints are created without a press using a gel printing plate. I roll acrylic paint onto the plate with a brayer. Designs are created by pressing or dragging textured objects or laying stencils on the wet paint. I then lay a piece of paper onto the painted surface and gently rub or roll with a brayer to transfer the design from the plate to the page. When the paper is pulled from the plate, the design is revealed...it's like Christmas morning! One of a kind finished pieces usually include 2 or 3 layers of paint which creates depth and provides interesting results.

This one is beautiful and its great to read how you make these thanks for sharing
Thank you, Jay! And you are very welcome. :)
Awesome process! I really like the texture it creates, might have to try this out myself :)
It really is fun...and messy! :) I have used this process on wood too and would like to try it on fabric. Endless possibilities!
Thanks for taking the time to look at my post and comment! Have an excellent rest of your SundayPurple!
